Wizkid’s Fake Love claims #1 on MMMC September 2018.
2018 came with good tidings. And that ‘goodness’ has been available, all year long. Beginning of the year, there were hits, mid year, plenty hits, summer, many. Infact there’s no single week that has passed with no hot song released. It’s September, and the industry is booming…
We bring you the September edition of Mp3bullet Monthly Majority Choice, a list of the hottest songs on Mp3bullet, through the month of September. Either songs that were released recently or months ago, the list comprises of the most banging. And, yeah, in no particular order!
There’s definitely no way this song is not one of the best collabos of 2018. Released in May, the song not only brought Duncan back to the mainstream, it also helped boost the StarBoy dominance. “Fake Love,” which was produced by Killertunes, exploits the ‘pon pon pon’ sound and it was (and is still) a big hit!
2Baba is by far the G.O.A.T of new school music, in Nigeria (read: Africa)! Ocassionally, he comes back with bangers that always blow our minds. “Amaka” was an instant hit, having DMW’s new cat, Peruzzi was significant.
Social media went agog (whatever this means) with the “Amaka disappoint me,” thing. Whoever Amaka is, she had to hid her face, while we banging a song about her, everyday.
Mama J is the Queen. This should cause no argument in 2018. Last year, things weren’t cool for the Mavins people, but Tiwa still disturbed the airwaves with her “Sugar Cane” EP, which had the hits, “Sugar Cane” and “All Over.”
“Lova Lova” had Duncan Mighty (Tiwa na sharp gyal), it’s quite normal, it was heavy sound. Moreover, since the Duncan invasion with “Fake Love,” the next best of the collabo’s he’s had will be “Lova Lova.” Mama J never die yet!
Davido’s back to basics, last year, really paid off. Hits ‘pon hits. Just this year, he’s blessed us with a couple of jams, and one of them is “Nwa Baby.”
Although, it has that Davido’s clichéd signature sound, it’s energetic and infectious. Before long, it was on top of everyone’s playlist, not only because it’s an OBO song, but because it’s a banging tune.
Olamide, isn’t like Amaka. He’s never disappointed. Even though he’s been consistently dropping like two albumsworth of songs, every year, for about seven years, now, man’s still got sauce!
Wizkid already told us to fear Killertunes, Olamide went in with the ace producer, and “Motigbana” came. A fusion of dancehall, afrobeats and rap. The sound’s just wavy! It quickly became everyone’s favourite.
A couple of months after the viral hit dropped, it’s still one of the top tunes. Quite a lot of people still want to catch in on the track like “did he just do that?”
Falz is a certified hitmaker, coolest rapper you’ll ever find, and on “This Is Nigeria,” he was, well, let’s say an activist. Back in August, the video hit 10 million views, and (you guessed it) still counting!
If there will ever be anything like evergreen shaku shaku, it will be “Issa Goal.” Although we first had the first bite of the song last year, this year, it’s been quite a big one.
First, a video came. Then, the World Cup thing triggered a star-studded remix. And again “Issa Goal” was topping the charts. Who would have imagined that?
Seems like attention has shifted from Mayorkun, to the new Peruzzi guy. But that won’t be disrupting the ‘free flow’ of good music from the Mayor of Lagos. Besides, he’s been playing a lot of shows, recently.
“Posh” is just that Mayorkun sound, that we caught up with fast. Afro, as usual. The vibe is cool, by the way!
When Victor AD came, people were like “who’s this guy?” He blew up with the hit, “Wetin We Gain” that even became a Trend on Social Media.
With his work with Erigga, and some other, I’ll believe the guy still has more and more to offer. If he doesn’t, wetin he gain?
Pato once again shows us he’s not just an artiste, he’s an artist with a message. When he’s not praying to God for “Alubarika,” he’s telling us everybody fii “Make Am” or just the “Heal D World” message.
With a strong message in the hot track, and a soothing video to push the message, “Heal D World” became a ‘playlist hacker’, and it’s actually getting rotations on Radio.
Barry Jhay is a rookie and “Aiye” is probably the best newcomer song of 2018. Everyone was banging it. It literally went viral!
Rumoured to be late Fuji artist, Barrister’s son, the guy made a dope record, beat courtesy of Antras. A remix with 9ice won’t be bad, you know!
Zoro’s really trying. And he’s been kind of flooding the market, this year. One of his cross-over hits will definitely be “Stainless,” on which he featured X3M beautiful singer, Simi. He also tried out singing, he actually did. It was cool.
It’s not news again that Zoro’s the next big thing from the East after Phyno!
This one is a September track, that’s still hot, and fresh. Falz created the explosive record, and spurred a Social Media Trend (a couple Twitter Trolls, really.) But the song is really FIA. The video’s in the convo, too. Everything is working out for the Bahd Guy!
Also a new song. So, the trio of Major Lazer dropped their Afrobeats Mix, about a week ago. And one of the tracks on it that got people talking was “All My Life” which features Burna.
A video has been shot, and they’re pushing the single. It’s only a matter of time before it becomes the biggest thing in town. For now, it’s our favourite, and it’s popping.
Burna Boy’s had such a stellar year, with the release of his album “Outside,” which was a big success.
Every artist wants to have a bite of the sauce Slimcase and Mr Real got, since D’banj put ’em on in January.
Mr Eazi got a somewhat afro-shaku beat, and made “Overload,” a radio hit, that reminds us that Eazi’s a real deal… Slimcase and Real blessed the track with their verses. It was OK, not just ok, very OK!
What else do you need to have a hit song? If not Baddo himself and the Alaga Ibile, of course.
Jimmy Jatt, is a legendary DJ, and he’s not actually putting out new music like the ‘hot’ guys. But “Small Girl Big God” is a major move. A shaku sound, it’s just Olamide and Reminisce having fun. Big shouts to DJJJ!
Davido and Peruzzi are the new duo oh. So, the OBO decided to jump on a track for producer, known as GospelonDeBeatz.
“Run Am” is an unconventional sound, with samples of Trap hip-hop on it, plus the Afro sound. The guys lit up the song, and it’s a major club banger. How it did on playlists? Well, it’s a Davido song. Your guess is just as good!
Months ago, Slimcase was trending, he was on all hit songs in town. But, he didn’t really have songs of his own, except “Majeomo,” “Industry OT,” which came before his wave.
That changed though, after the shaku shaku master dropped “Otunba Lamba,” which was a mild hit. Weeks ago, he released yet another single, “Kalamo.” It’s trending, already. “Kalamo” is really one of the banging songs, right now. Slim is a case!
I know when it dropped y’all wondered “what’s Lil Kesh’s business with Duncan Mighty ke?” We were as surprised as you. There’s still a lot of artists that haven’t featured Duncan. So much, we didn’t think Kesh was next.
“Flenjo” is dope, the Duncan magic worked perfectly. It’s cool, sorry, it’s hot. It’s a banger. Perhaps Lil Kesh’s still got hope, afterall.
“Escobar,” “Afro Girl,” “Akube,” “My Woman,” uggh, Dotman is a hitmaker. Underrated. He’s not only good at making hits, he’s actually very talented. He’s one of the best around here!
He dropped “Pepesu” featuring DJ Tunez, and it’s a dope one. The beat, the hook, the lyrics and that thing sounding like a Fela sound… E make sense die!
And finally, there’s Efe’s Yeba. No, no, no, I’m just joking!
