Spanish professional football manager Xavier Hernández Creus, known as Xavi, has made a shocking Champions League admission after Barcelona’s draw with Inter Milan.

Despite his team still have a chance to advance to the knockout stages, Xavi Hernandez claims Barcelona do not deserve to be in the Champions League.

These prospects are now in jeopardy following Barca’s dramatic 3-3 draw with Inter Milan on Wednesday night at Camp Nou, placing them third in Group C.

Bayern Munich are making a mockery of the ‘Group of Death’ tag as they sit top with four wins from four, with Inter on seven points and Barcelona with just four from four games.

Even though Barca still has games against Bayern and bottom-place Viktoria Plzen left, Xavi believes they have already shown they don’t deserve to advance.

On Wednesday, Barcelona took the lead against Inter, fell behind, tied the score, and ultimately needed a stoppage-time goal from Robert Lewandowski to salvage a point after a very shaky defensive performance that frustrated the manager.

While speaking after the match, via Barca Universal, Xavi said:

‘I’m very disappointed, sad, frustrated, I’m angry, I have to be self-critical, we don’t deserve to play in the Champions League. It hurts me, but it’s the truth.
‘I apologise to the fans because we made the mistakes, we had set our minds not to fail, and we have failed, so we have to apologise to the fans, who have been wonderful. I want to tell them that we will work to turn this situation around and win titles.’

Although Barcelona leads La Liga, things are not all bad. Nevertheless, they won’t be playing with a lot of confidence when they face Real Madrid in the El Clasico on Sunday.

‘Let’s hope that today’s game doesn’t affect us for El Clasico in terms of mentality, the players have given their all today,’ said Xavi. ‘The goal for this season is still the same, to win trophies.’
