Chelsea have secured Cole Palmer’s long-term future, with the England international signing a contract extension that keeps him at Stamford Bridge until 2034.

The 24-year-old was previously contracted to the club until 2033, but Chelsea have moved on to reward his growing influence since joining Manchester City in 2023. Palmer has become one of the team’s most important attacking players, contributing goals, assists, and creativity to their recent success.
Since his £42.5 million move to West London, Palmer has recorded 91 goal contributions in 138 appearances for Chelsea, helping the club win the FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Conference League. His performances have also earned him several individual honours, further strengthening his position within the squad.
The new agreement places Palmer among the Premier League players tied to clubs until 2034, alongside Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Chelsea players Joao Pedro and Geovany Quenda.
Speaking after completing the deal, Palmer expressed his happiness at committing his future to the club.
“Chelsea means a lot to me and I think the club is going in the right direction, so I’m delighted to sign and I’m obviously very happy,” he said.
The attacking midfielder also pointed to conversations with Chelsea’s ownership, sporting directors and manager as important factors in his decision.
“Speaking to the owners, to the sporting directors and obviously the manager, they gave me a lot of confidence so it was only right to sign,” he added.

Palmer said the ambitions shared by his teammates also influenced his decision, explaining that he wants to help Chelsea compete for major honours and play a leading role in the club’s future.
The extension comes after a difficult spell with injuries. A persistent groin problem affected Palmer during the previous campaign and reportedly contributed to his absence from England’s World Cup squad. He also sat out the latest international break as he continued working towards full fitness.
Despite those setbacks, Palmer has made a promising start to the new season under Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso, registering four goals and two assists in seven appearances. His developing partnership with summer signing Morgan Rogers has also offered encouragement as the Blues look to improve their league form.

Chelsea currently sit 10th in the Premier League after five matches and have conceded 12 goals, leaving Alonso with work to do at both ends of the pitch.
Ahead of Saturday’s trip to Bournemouth, the Chelsea manager confirmed Palmer is making progress and is available to return, provided he is fit enough to play.
“Absolutely. He’s committed, but he needs to be fully fit to play,” Alonso said. “And when he’s fully fit, he will enjoy his minutes. We need him in that moment. The club and the national team. He trained over the past week and has been feeling better, but we didn’t want to rush him.”
With his future now secured, Chelsea will hope Palmer can stay fit and help drive their ambitions as they look to get their season back on track.
