Niniola isn’t your regular female singer. She’s unique, in such a way that you can’t but like her music. With a sound that fuses afro, EDM and the South African house together, she’s got the real vibe to turn up any party.
You shouldn’t be surprised that the beautiful singer is compassionate, as early this year as she bought JAMB forms for 30 students. She said she is trying to work in her late dad’s shoes. So touching!
And she’s been here for quite a while. Long and consistent enough for her not to be included in 2018 Headies Next Rated Award nominations. You may know her with her smash hit “Maradona,” or maybe it’s the ‘This Is Me’ era you heard of the songstress (remember “Sicker”?). Or probably the time she dropped “Shaba“?
She’s not stopped dishing out hot singles. Her latest single, “Bana” just got a video and it’s trending. Before that, we had “Magun” which featured Busiswa. Niniola was also on the star-studded remix of Mr Real’s “Legbegbe,” which also had SA’s DJ Maphorisa.
Seven facts you don’t already know about the “Sicker” singer, brought to you by Mp3bullet. Skrrr.
PROJECT FAME
Oh, I forgot to say that earlier. It’s the same Niniola you know from MTN Project Fame Season 6. That was the first major platform that blew her up.
After finishing as the 3rd runner up at the talent show, she rose to prominence, and went into the music profession. She’s kinda like the most successful female contestant from Project Fame (assuming Chidinma is out of the equation.)
Sarz has blessed a lot of careers with his magic production touch. He’s been working with StarBoy Wizkid, ever since. But it’s not only Wizkid!
Niniola’s biggest hit “Maradona” was produced by Sarz, and he (Sarz) worked on Nini’s 2017 debut album, “This Is Me.”
Meanwhile, I wanted to ask, what is delaying our Niniola ft. Wizkid?
Teni is the coolest new kid on the block, right now. She’s dropping banger to banger. And you know her as that girl that will say nasty things on songs.
But you probably don’t know, Teni the Entertainer is Niniola’s kid sister. Wow, right? Yeah. You may have seen Teni gushing about Niniola on Social Media, a couple times. It’s not only ’cause she’s a brilliant singer. She’s her sister, you know.
And we believe a collaboration between the two sisters is imminent!
BET
Every artist wants the BET, any artist will die to get a BET, but only a few chosen get to smell the Award, not to talk of getting a plaque.
Alongside her numerous nominations and win in other Awards shows, Niniola was nominated for a BET, this year. She was nominated in the Viewer’s Choice Best New International Act category.
Unfortunately, though, she lost to Sjava. But yeah, how many Nigeria female singers have been nominated for BET? Tiwa Savage. Who else?
ANGELIQUE KIDJO
It’s actually rare to find a female singer, who knows African music well, that doesn’t respect Angelique Kidjo.
Niniola doesn’t only respect Angelique, she loves her and her music. As she’s repeatedly said in interviews, the Benin Republic Grammy-Award-winning singer, is one of her major influences. Afterall, who doesn’t like a black woman with a Grammy?
UNILAG
When you start listing the number of celebrities who attended UNILAG (who will try this sef), you know you’re in for a very long thing. VP Osinbajo, Ambode, Oby Ezekwesili, Daddy G.O. OK, let’s say people in the Entertainment Industry. Genevieve Nnaji, Darey, Reekado Banks, Mayorkun.
I’ll save you the whole story, Niniola also schooled at the prestigious University Of Lagos. She studied Biology Education, and graduated (yes, we mean she didn’t drop out), before taking up music fully.
INSPIRED BY BEATS
Every artiste has his own unique way of getting inspirations for songs. For many, it’s enter the studio, listen to the beat, and freestyle on it, whatever comes is the track. Some, will have beat sent to them, they’ll work on it at home, and go over to the studio. But a vast majority of artists, especially those who do alternative and RnB, will prefer writing a song and then going to make the beat afterwards.
For an artist like Niniola, you’ll almost think she writes her songs, for weeks, before recording. But, no, actually she just goes to the studio with her mind blank, listens to the beat and do whatever comes. Surprised, right? That’s how Maradona came.
Nini issa Queen!
