Nigerian music star Davido has reacted strongly to the disturbing bullying incident that recently surfaced online involving students of Igbinedion Education Centre in Benin City, Edo State.

The Afrobeats superstar did not hide his anger after a shocking video began circulating on social media showing a student being violently attacked by classmates. The footage, which has since sparked widespread outrage across Nigeria and beyond, prompted the singer to publicly condemn the act.
Taking to his social media platform, Davido expressed his disgust after watching the clip. Reacting bluntly to the incident, he described the attackers as “Fucking animals” and added that the scene captured in the video was “so disgusting.”
Disturbing footage sparks nationwide outrage
The video, which began trending online on Friday, March 13, 2026, shows a helpless student being subjected to brutal treatment by two other male students while another person records the incident.
In the clip, the victim is seen being violently assaulted in several ways:
- Flogged and repeatedly kicked in the stomach
- Slammed against the ground
- Stamped on the head and ribs by the attackers
The level of violence shown in the footage triggered swift reactions from Nigerians on social media, with many demanding strict punishment for those responsible. Several commentators also called for legal action in addition to disciplinary measures by the school.
School authorities respond
Amid the growing backlash, the management of Igbinedion Education Centre released an official statement late Friday night confirming that the incident indeed took place within the institution.
According to the statement, the school had already concluded an internal review and taken decisive action against the students involved.
“The behavior shown in the video is deeply disturbing and stands in direct violation of the values and standards we uphold. Following an immediate investigation, the students responsible have been EXPELLED with immediate effect,” the statement read.
Following the public outcry, the Edo State Ministry of Education also intervened, announcing the formation of a five-member committee tasked with investigating the circumstances that led to the incident.
Authorities say the panel will examine supervision procedures and identify possible lapses within the school’s system.
Meanwhile, the Edo State Police Command has invited the parents of the victim to formally lodge a complaint as part of a criminal investigation into the assault. Although the students involved are minors, police officials noted that the severity of the attack makes legal scrutiny necessary.
Davido’s reaction reflects the broader anger among Nigerians online, many of whom are demanding stronger anti-bullying measures in private schools across the country.
As of Sunday, March 15, 2026, the situation remains under close watch while the government’s investigative committee begins reviewing the school’s safety and supervision policies. For many observers, the disturbing episode has once again reignited conversations about student welfare and discipline within Nigeria’s educational system.
