“I decided to drop the case because the lawyer brought up my deceased son” – Davido reacts to reports of outburst in Lagos court during custody battle for daughter Imade

David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has announced that he is withdrawing the custody case involving his daughter, Imade Adeleke, and her mother, Sophia Momodu.
In a series of heartfelt posts on his social media late Friday, the Afrobeats superstar clarified that he never sought full custody but was only pursuing joint custody of his daughter.
Davido explained that the legal dispute had no real winner and that the process had negatively impacted Imade, making it wrong for anyone to celebrate the proceedings.
He revealed that he decided to drop the case after being deeply upset by what he described as an offensive reference to his late son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, during court proceedings, a move he called “an unacceptable low blow.”
“1. I never asked for full custody … I asked for joint custody
“2. Nobody won, nobody lost but Imade … so I don’t know why some pple r celebrating.. there’s nothing to celebrate.
“3. I’ve decided to drop the case because when I was spanking that lawyer in the court room all … she would get so frustrated .. because normally I finish school .. I was finishing her .. until she brought out her last card ! MY DECEASED SON ! THATS A NO NO ! Lowest blow!
“4. My daughter will grow up knowing I fought for her .. let’s move on ❤️🙏 One love !”

In a follow-up post, Davido also criticized Ebelechukwu Egeonu Enedah, the lawyer representing Sophia Momodu, accusing her of unprofessional conduct by making hurtful remarks about his late son in court.
“@belachukwu … I disgraced you in the courtroom.. I was teaching you your work you couldn’t even take it and then went on to mention My Son.. like I said in the courtroom I pray you never go through what me and my wife have gone through ever .. and u were still smiling smirking .. u are a wicked human being. UR THE WORST LAWYER EVER I BEAT YOU IN COURT! YOU ARE NOT LEARNED.”
The custody battle first drew public attention after lawyer Maruf Mohammed claimed on X that Davido appeared in court in Yaba, Lagos, on Thursday, becoming visibly angry during cross-examination and creating tension in the courtroom.
