‘Wizkid is my senior, he has been in the music industry for like a year or two before I started’: Olamide says (Video)

Nigerian rap heavyweight Olamide has set social media buzzing yet again after an old interview resurfaced online, showing him openly acknowledging that Wizkid kicked off his music journey earlier than he did.
The clip emerged just days after the YBNL boss made headlines in Canada for declaring that, after the legendary Fela, Wizkid stands as the greatest Afrobeats artist ever a statement that sparked plenty of heated debates among fans.
In the newly circulating interview, Olamide was responding to a host who suggested that he and Wizkid began their careers at the same time. The rapper didn’t hesitate to correct that narrative, making it clear there’s a seniority in play.
According to him, Wizkid had already been testing the waters and releasing music long before he got his own break. Olamide calmly set the record straight, highlighting the Starboy’s head start in the industry.
In his exact words: “Wizkid and I didn’t start doing music at the same time. He started a year or two before me; he was already putting out music before I came.”
The revelation adds another layer to the long-standing mutual respect between the two superstars, whose careers have continuously defined and shaped the Nigerian music scene.
