Nigerian singer Ayoleyi Hanniel Solomon, widely known as Reekado Banks, has opened up about his past public clash with Afrobeats superstar Wizkid, offering fresh insight into the controversial 2020 incident and revealing that both artists have since reconciled.

Speaking during a recent podcast interview, the Easy (Jeje) crooner reflected on the now-infamous social media exchange that occurred during the height of Nigeria’s #EndSARS protests.

At the time, Reekado had promoted the release of their collaborative track Omo Olomo, a move that didn’t sit well with Wizkid, who slammed him in a now-deleted tweet, calling him a “fool” and a “clout animal.”

Reekado admitted that the moment was difficult, especially because he disagreed with the timing of the song’s release. “Not the nicest, especially considering I didn’t want to put the music out. I urged my management not to, but they insisted,” he recalled.

When asked if he regretted moving forward with the release, the singer responded affirmatively. “Absolutely. These days, there’s hardly anything I’m convinced to do that I don’t truly want to,” he said, adding that the experience taught him to trust his instincts more and take firmer control over his decisions.

In a surprising turn, Reekado revealed that he and Wizkid have since made peace. He shared that the Morayo star recently visited his restaurant, and the two had a heartfelt conversation.

According to Reekado, Wizkid apologized for the harsh words and acknowledged that he could have handled things differently. “He feels sorry about how things went down. It’s good now, no hard feelings,” he said.

Even more revealing was Reekado’s disclosure that Wizkid also expressed regret over his past online criticisms of music executive Don Jazzy, who played a pivotal role in launching Reekado’s career.

The two artists reportedly bonded during their chat, particularly over the shared pain of recently losing their mothers, adding an emotional layer to their reconciliation.

The conversation marks a moment of healing and growth between two of Nigeria’s beloved music stars, a testament to maturity, accountability, and evolving friendships in the ever-evolving Afrobeats scene.
