Several social media users have been calling out Mthembeni Ndevu, better known by his stage name Emtee, for being broke.

Critics on social media enjoy calling the rapper “broke,” and this practice can be traced back to three to four years ago.

Several people assumed that the singer of the Pearl Thusi hit was a struggling rap sensation as a result of his departure from Ambitiouz Entertainment’s album.

Ndevu has attempted to ignore some of those who have shamed him, but on Sunday he took the time to speak to a handful.

Is this the part where I show you my balance? Die broke n rest in piss. U son of a bitch https://t.co/VffKb2FVZ8

Emtee also posted a video of the late AKA treating him with respect along with a statement criticising the contempt shown by others who assert that he is destitute.

“Imagine getting respect from Supa Mega then getting disrespected by some unemployed potential phara who can’t even afford gwaai and has 2 followers tellin me I’m broke.”

It is recalled that Rapper Emtee learned about the programme and said he intended to be a part of it. Last week saw the premiere of Love and Hip Hop SA, and it appears that more people than just regular TV watchers were tuning in.

“Mane I was supposed to be on this love n hip hop SA sh**. Bang’gabhile,” he tweeted, stating that “they” did him dirty by not including him in the show’s cast.

Love and Hip Hop, often known as Love & Hip Hop, is a docu-soap series produced by Paramount’s VH1 that tells the stories of rappers, producers, and other innovators attempting to make it big in the music industry while juggling personal and familial issues.

In Love and Hip Hop SA, MTV Africa promises to reveal more about the lives of some of South Africa’s favourite Hip Hop musicians. This is the first time the series has been broadcasted internationally.
