With the efforts of various record labels, the Nigerian music business, which is one of the country’s fastest-growing industries, has grown in size and quality throughout the years.
These record labels have aided in the development of existing artists as well as the discovery of fresh potential in the industry.
Mavin Records
Mavin Records is a Nigerian record label founded by record producer anding recording artist Don Jazzy on May 8, 2012. The label’s inception came to fruition following the closure of Mo’ Hits Records, a record label owned by the aforementioned producer and D’banj
The label is home to recording artists such as Korede Bello, Dr SID, D’Prince, Di’Ja, Johnny Drille, Ladipoe, DNA Twins, Rema, Ayra Starr, 6xSlatt and Crayon
DMW
David Adeleke, commonly known as Davido, is a Nigerian pop musician who formed Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) in 2016 after leaving his previous record company, HKN, which he co-founded with his elder brother, Adewale Adekunle.
DMW has become a household name in less than two years, having already delivered a slew of hit singles.
Davido is the frontliner of the record label, which has evolved from one to more than ten artists.
It also home to Mayorkun, Dremo, Yonda, Peruzzi, DJ E-Cool, Saucekid, Shizzi, Idowest, Speroach Beatz and most recently Ayanfe.
YBNL
Yahoo Boy No Laptop Nation, popularly known as YBNL Nation or simply YBNL, is an independent record label founded by Olamide in 2012.
Currently, it has DJ Enimoney, Pheelz and Young John the Wicked Produce, Limerick, and raving artiste, Fireboy DML
Dr Dolor Entertainment
Teni Apata, a Nigerian musician, rose to fame thanks to Dr Dolor Entertainment, which was formed by Osadolor Nate Asemota, also known as Dr Dolor.
Dr. Dolor has always had a passion for music, performing in the church choir since he was a child.
His passion for music has led him to establish a multinational music label that has dominated the Nigerian and global music scenes.
Dvpper Music Distribution
Damilola Akinwunmi created DAPPER Distribution, Records (also term as DVPPER) in 2017 as a Nigerian distribution firm and record label situated in Lagos, Nigeria.
It has released albums in a number of genres, but their Afrobeats music is its most well-known.
DVPPER has distributed so many musicians such as Omah Lay, Ice Prince, SkiiBii, Sean Tizzle, Rexxie, Broda Shaggi, Sound Sultan, Lyta, KLY, Blaq Jerzee, Ola Dips, Nappy, Mr Real, Black Magic, Klever Jay, Savage
Starboy Entertainment
Global Pop singer Ayo Balogun popularly known as Wizkid established StarBoy Records after departing Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) in 2013. He released his second album Áyo’ via the label.
Wizkid is the major artist in this label and so far has made great music following his relatively new label. Some associated music acts in his label include Maleek Berry, Legendary Beatz, L.A.X.
