Seun Kuti has revealed that his father, late Fela Kuti never flogged him when he was a child.
Seun Kuti revealed this information to Daddy Freeze who spoke out against parents spanking their children in the name of punishment.
Daddy Freeze had posted a screenshot of a conversation between him and a follower on the issue of beating a one’s child.
He captioned the post with,
“To those people who thought that I overreacted by calling this man’s mother mad yesterday, in the previous post, here is the whole tweet tread.
His tweet reads:
“Till tomorrow, my mother a retired headmistress spanked me till I got married at 37. She stopped on the day I paid my wife bride price. At least, her cane has produced reasonable Nigerian.”
My response was: “If your mother was still spanking you at 37, she is a psychopath and she raised a psychopath. The two of you are both mad!”
Many people including my dear brother @renoomokri assumed that the spanking was scolding. No, it’s NOT! He was clearly talking of a physical not verbal reproach!
The original video was about a man spanking his 18 year old daughter with a belt, for joining a WhatsApp group without his approval. My reaction was that it was child abuse. In response, he said he had a 3-year-old and a 5-year-old with marks on their bodies.
Is that not child abuse? Is this not madness?
He claims his mother raised a reasonable man, is this not insanity?

Daddy Freeze then posted the conversation he had with Seun Kuti concerning the same issue and Seun revealed that Fela never beat him.
According to the leader of the Eygpt 80 band, Fela led by example and not by force. Further revealing that his father advised him not to steal and didn’t steal, not to lie and didn’t lie to him.
