Real Madrid president Florentino Perez speaks out on Kylian Mbappe after PSG star demands transfer.
Despite Kylian Mbappe’s renewed desire to leave Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has distanced the club from a new attempt to sign him.
Last week, there were numerous stories in France claiming that the 23-year-old was tired of PSG and wanted to go either Real Madrid, with whom they believed they had a deal in place earlier this year or Liverpool.
Though he has since rejected the reports, Mbappe is thought to feel “betrayed” as a result of the club’s management breaking a number of promises regarding both the summer signings that were made and his role in the team.
The France international’s previous contract was due to expire at the end of last season and Real were convinced they had secured his signature only for an eleventh-hour U-turn.
Instead, Mbappe penned an extension with PSG that is believed to have made him the highest-paid player in the world, leaving Real – who had devoted an enormous amount of time to wooing the forward – absolutely seething.

When asked about Mbappe after the Champions League final, Real president Perez reportedly responded by saying the forward “did not exist” in a furious message.
The Real Madrid president was unavoidably questioned about the latest Mbappe rumours on Monday evening while both he and the Frenchman were in Paris for the Ballon d’Or ceremony, but he once more disclaimed any intention of making a move.
As quoted by RMC Sport, Perez said: ‘It’s not that I’m bored of stories about Mbappe, it’s that I don’t even read them anymore. We have an extraordinary future ahead of us. Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo are real stars. I see them as future Ballon d’Or winners.’
According to Marca, Perez and Real’s delegation at the Ballon d’Or ceremony did not interact with Mbappe or his entourage at all on Monday night.
The charm offensive Real had put so much effort into over the past few years was replaced by ‘coldness and distance’ and Perez is said to have firmly put the idea of signing Mbappe to bed, not wanting to have his fingers burned again.
Reacting to the sudden speculation surrounding his future, Mbappe said this weekend: ‘I’m very happy. I never asked for my departure in January. I was just as shocked as everyone else. There are people who may think I’m involved in this, but I’m not involved, I was taking a nap.’
