“Laycon is my brother” – DJ Neptune denies allegations he defrauded him
DJ Neptune has finally addressed the ongoing issue with his colleague Laycon, following allegations made by the rapper on August 22, 2024. Laycon had publicly called out DJ Neptune on the social media platform X, asking for an update on the financial split from their collaborative track “Nobody (Icons Remix),” which had been unresolved for four years.
In a recent interview on the Zero Conditions podcast, DJ Neptune clarified the situation, emphasizing that no money was wrongfully taken. According to Neptune, the delay was due to documentation issues, particularly the need to reimburse the advanced marketing costs that were part of the distribution agreement for the song.
DJ Neptune explained, “When you have a deal with a distribution company or a label, and you’re given advanced marketing money to push the music or video, they have to recoup that investment.”
He assured that Laycon’s concerns were legitimate and acknowledged that the legal teams from both sides were involved in negotiating the financial split.
He admitted that the matter was left unresolved partly due to his oversight in not following up, but he made it clear that no one was attempting to cheat anyone. Neptune added that a percentage was proposed to Laycon’s team, which they disagreed with, and the conversation stalled from there.
Neptune concluded by reaffirming his respect for Laycon, describing him as his “brother,” and expressed his hope that the matter would be settled soon.
