Italian giants Inter Milan and French powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are set to clash in the 2025 UEFA Champions League final, marking a rare meeting between clubs from both nations at Europe’s grandest stage.

This will be only the second time in the 69-year history of the prestigious competition that a French side and an Italian team face off in the final. The first such encounter dates back to 1993, when Olympique Marseille edged AC Milan to lift the trophy.

Final to be held in Germany’s Allianz Arena on May 31
The much-anticipated showdown will take place on Saturday, May 31, at the Allianz Arena in Munich. The kickoff is slated for 21:00 CEST (20:00 BST).
The venue, home to Bayern Munich, boasts a 70,000-seat capacity and is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The stadium last hosted the final in 2012, when Chelsea famously defeated Bayern Munich in a dramatic contest.

Germany last staged a Champions League final in 2015, when Barcelona triumphed over Juventus to complete a historic treble. Interestingly, PSG could replicate that feat this season if they win the Coupe de France final against Reims on May 24, just days before they meet with Inter.

How Both Clubs Reached the Final
Inter’s journey to the final was nothing short of dramatic. The Nerazzurri edged past Barcelona in a thrilling semi-final tie that ended 7-6 on aggregate after extra time. Having appeared to be on the brink of elimination after a spirited comeback by the Spanish side at San Siro, Inter were rescued by a stoppage-time equalizer from defender Francesco Acerbi. Davide Frattesi then sealed the win during extra time to send the Italian side to another final, having last lifted the trophy in 2010 and finishing runners-up in 2023.

Paris Saint-Germain, on the other hand, secured their place in the final with a more composed display against Arsenal. The Ligue 1 champions prevailed 3-1 on aggregate and were bolstered by the heroics of goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who made crucial saves to keep the Gunners at bay. PSG will now hope to go one step further than in 2020, their only previous final appearance, which ended in heartbreak.
