Celine Dion’s sister Claudette shares grim update on the singer’s health
Claudette Dion, the sister of renowned singer Celine Dion, has provided an update on Celine Dion’s health after her diagnosis of stiff person syndrome, which led her to cancel her world tour.
In an interview with Le Journal de Montreal (via SheMazing), Claudette disclosed that Celine, aged 55, is currently under the care of their sister Linda.
Additionally, Celine is collaborating closely with researchers who have expertise in dealing with this rare medical condition. The family is rallying around Celine to provide her with the support and medical attention she needs during this challenging time.
‘We can’t find any medicine that works, but having hope is important,’ she revealed this week.
‘I honestly think that she mostly needs to rest. She always goes above and beyond [when performing], she always tries to be the best and top of her game.
‘At one point, your heart and your body are trying to tell you something. It’s important to listen to it.’
Stiff person syndrome is an incredibly rare and incurable neurological condition characterized by uncontrollable muscle spasms. It affects an extremely small number of people, with just one in every one million individuals being diagnosed with the condition.
Despite facing this challenging health condition, Celine Dion remains proactive in her approach to managing the syndrome. She has been actively engaging with top researchers in the field of this rare disease, seeking their expertise and guidance. ‘[Performing] is innate to her, she’s disciplined in every area of her life,’ Claudette added.
When she’s unable to speak one-on-one with Celine, Claudette is provided health updates by Linda, who is now living with the singer at her Las Vegas home.
‘When I call [Celine] and she’s busy, I speak to my sister Linda who lives with her and tells me that she’s working hard,’ she told the outlet.
