Cristiano Ronaldo has offered his clearest indication yet that his remarkable football career could be approaching its final chapter.
The Portuguese superstar made the revelation during an emotional conversation with Vogue, where he reflected on his extraordinary run at the top of world football and shared his plans for life beyond the pitch.

Ronaldo admitted that the current campaign could be his final season as a professional footballer, although he stopped short of making an official retirement announcement. His comments, however, suggest that he is already beginning to prepare for the transition.
After roughly 25 years of competing at the highest level, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner said he has already considered how he intends to spend his time once football is no longer part of his daily routine.
Travel, family time, and his passion for padel are among the activities he hopes to enjoy more freely. Ronaldo acknowledged that his career has demanded years of discipline and sacrifice, leaving little room for some of the personal experiences he now wants to prioritise.
He Said:
“I have a lot of things that will keep me busy, to the point that it’s difficult to tell you just one thing. I have just planned it all. When football is gone, it can leave a big void, and you have to fill your time with different things planned… not just one thing. I am ready to enjoy myself more, travel more, watch and play padel, which I love very much. So I want to continue enjoying what I have earned… and what we have earned together. Because it was 25 years filled with a lot of daily sacrifices”.
Despite contemplating life after football, the Portuguese forward still has significant ambitions on the field. One of his biggest remaining targets is reaching 1,000 career goals, a landmark that would add another extraordinary achievement to an already historic career.
Ronaldo’s résumé already includes league championships in England, Spain, and Italy; five Champions League triumphs; and major international honors with Portugal.
As the possibility of retirement draws closer, the significance of each appearance could become even greater. If this does turn out to be his final season, football fans could be witnessing the closing stages of one of the most decorated and influential careers the sport has ever seen.
