Senegalese-American singer and entrepreneur Akon has sparked fresh conversation after opening up about his past relationships and how he now views love and commitment.

Speaking during an interview with The Shade Room, the 53-year-old artist reflected on his earlier lifestyle, explaining that he once found life more manageable when he was involved with multiple partners.
Known for previously expressing support for polygamy, Akon suggested that his personal experience has shaped that perspective over time.
“My life was a lot easier when I had multiple women surrounding me. It is a lot harder with just one woman”, he said.
The comment comes months after his wife of 28 years, Tomeka Thiam, reportedly filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences—a development that has since brought renewed attention to his personal life.
Now, Akon’s remarks add another layer to ongoing public discussions about relationships, commitment, and the complexities of long-term partnerships, especially under the spotlight of fame.
