Veteran Fuji musician Saheed Osupa has sparked debate after openly admitting that he uses traditional spiritual practices commonly referred to as “juju” to boost his success.

The revelation came during a live performance on March 30, 2026, at the 52nd birthday celebration of veteran Yoruba actor Fatai Odua (Lalude). A video from the event, which began trending on Wednesday, captured Osupa addressing his backup singers after they struggled to keep pace with his performance, urging them to embrace spiritual means to sharpen their skills and memory.
Speaking with humor yet bluntness, Osupa emphasized that he does not hide his spiritual practices, despite some advising him to deny such involvement.
“Someone once advised me to grant an interview denying I am a fetish person, but I refused. I didn’t harm anyone with it. I only seek progress,” he stated.
The Fuji legend also highlighted his regular homage to Ifa, joking about relying on anything else for success.
“If I don’t engage in it, what else should I use? Is it Panadol that will make me successful?” he quipped.
Osupa went further to suggest that many people quietly follow similar spiritual routines, though he chooses to be open about his practices.
“Everybody practises it. Some do theirs in secret, but I do mine openly,” he added.
Over the years, Osupa has occasionally hinted at drawing spiritual support during performances, but this latest declaration is considered his most candid acknowledgment of traditional practices, reigniting discussions on the role of spirituality in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
