Barcelona have strengthened their attacking options with the signing of Germany international Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund, completing a deal reportedly worth €29 million, including add-ons.
The 24-year-old has signed a five-year contract that will keep him at the Catalan club until June 2031, becoming Barcelona’s second major addition of the summer after the arrival of Anthony Gordon.
Adeyemi joins a Barcelona side looking to rebuild its frontline following Robert Lewandowski’s departure and the conclusion of Marcus Rashford’s loan spell. Known for his blistering speed and versatility across the attack, the German forward arrives after an impressive four-year spell at Borussia Dortmund, where he found the net 36 times in 146 appearances.
His time in Germany also included a memorable run to the 2024 UEFA Champions League final, a campaign that further established him as one of Europe’s most exciting attacking talents.
Borussia Dortmund sporting director Lars Ricken explained that the transfer came after Adeyemi informed the club of his desire to begin a new chapter in Spain. With the forward entering the final year of his contract, Dortmund agreed that the move was in everyone’s best interest.

He stated:
“Karim has been an important part of Borussia Dortmund for the past four years. We reached the Champions League final with him in 2024. Nevertheless, this summer we agreed that both Karim and we wanted to pursue different paths in the future. When Karim approached us with the desire to move to FC Barcelona, we agreed after considering all of Borussia Dortmund’s interests. We wish Karim and his family all the best for the future.”
Adeyemi also took time to bid an emotional farewell to the club where he spent the last four seasons, expressing gratitude to his teammates, the management and supporters who stood by him throughout his journey.
He said:
“I would like to thank Borussia Dortmund for four fantastic years. To the club, my team-mates, and the fans who made every game special with their support. I wish BVB all the best for the future.”
The move also reunites Adeyemi with Barcelona manager Hansi Flick, who handed the forward his senior Germany debut in 2021. That existing relationship is expected to ease his transition into Flick’s tactical setup as Barcelona prepare for another demanding campaign.

With another key signing secured, Barcelona’s attention now shifts to finalising preparations for the 2026/27 season as the Spanish champions gear up to defend their La Liga title.
