Fireboy DML Shuts Down Toronto’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre With Sold-Out Concert Featuring Lagbaja, Lojay, BNXN

On August 5th, 2025, Nigerian music star Fireboy DML delivered an unforgettable night of music and magic at the iconic Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Toronto, Canada, and he did it to a sold-out crowd.
The award-winning singer-songwriter thrilled fans with a powerful live set that blended crowd-favorite hits with fresh material from his critically acclaimed 2024 album, Adedamola.
The concert, part of his global tour, was not only a celebration of Fireboy’s musical evolution but also a cultural moment, one that brought together Afrobeats lovers from across Canada.
Among the surprises of the night were guest performances from Afrofusion stars Lojay and BNXN, both of whom have collaborated with Fireboy in the past. But the night’s most talked-about moment came when legendary masked musician Lagbaja made a rare appearance on stage.
Together, Fireboy and Lagbaja performed their introspective collaboration, Back and Forth, one of the standout tracks from Adedamola, which has been hailed as one of Nigeria’s best musical projects of 2024.
For fans, Lagbaja’s appearance was a once-in-a-generation moment. The enigmatic saxophonist and highlife-fusion pioneer has maintained an air of mystery throughout his near three-decade career, rarely stepping into the spotlight.
Before Toronto, his last major public performance was in 2022 at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, where he shared the stage with fellow Afrobeats star Rema.
Fireboy’s ability to pull Lagbaja back into the spotlight and outside Nigeria marked a defining moment in his career. The night was praised by fans and industry insiders alike, including respected music executive Bankulli, who took to Instagram to commend Fireboy’s grassroots appeal and global rise.
“Fireboy DML built an amazing organic fanbase that can never be taken away,” Bankulli wrote, sharing concert footage.

In addition to Back and Forth, Fireboy also gave a stirring performance of his 2025 single Dopamine, his first release of the year. And as expected, the crowd erupted when he performed Peru — the smash hit that became one of Afrobeats’ biggest global exports.
The Toronto concert is yet another testament to Fireboy’s steady ascent as a global music force, combining artistry, authenticity, and community in every move.
With Adedamola still enjoying widespread acclaim and new music already making waves, Fireboy continues to show that he’s not just riding the Afrobeats wave — he’s helping shape it.
