How Burna Boy tells Omawumi and Waje to leave the studio in Lekki — Timaya (Video)
Afro-dancehall legend Timaya, whose real name is Inetimi Alfred Odom, shared a captivating story about Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy during an interview with Naija FM in Lagos.
Timaya recounted a studio session in Lekki years ago, where Burna Boy confidently predicted his future success, declaring that he would one day fly on private jets.
Timaya recalled Burna Boy’s bold proclamation being met with skepticism from renowned songstresses Omawumi and Waje, who doubted the ambitious statement.
However, Burna Boy, fueled by an unyielding belief in his vision, refused to accept their doubts. In a dramatic turn, he reportedly asked them to leave the studio.
Reflecting on the incident, Timaya described it as a defining moment in Burna Boy’s journey, emphasizing his fearless determination. “Nothing Burna Boy is doing now surprises me,” Timaya said. “The guy is fearless. There was one time when Burna Boy, Omawumi, and Waje were in the studio, and he [Burna Boy] started saying that a time would come when he would be getting paid to enter jets.
“Omawumi and Waje started doubting him because back then, Nigerian artists hadn’t started flying private jets. He got angry, opened the studio door, and asked them to leave.”
Timaya’s account highlights Burna Boy’s unwavering confidence and relentless drive to achieve his dreams, traits that have propelled him to global stardom.
