I would have been greater than Wizkid if I hadn’t fallen out with PSquare – May D
Nigerian singer May D has sparked online discussions after asserting that he could have achieved greater success than Wizkid if not for his fallout with his former record label, Square Records.
The singer made this claim during a heated exchange with fans on social media platform X. The clash reportedly began after May D praised Davido in a post, which drew backlash from some Wizkid fans.
In his post, May D expressed admiration for Davido, writing: “Always proud of you @davido, very kind guy!! We don’t deserve you.”
The comment triggered responses from Wizkid’s fan base, leading Mr. May D to defend himself. Addressing the trolls, he wrote: “Because I spoke about David, Wizkid boys are attacking me. Lmao, even Wiz knows I love him. But if y’all come for me, I’ll finish all of you and your oga.”
The conversation escalated when May D reflected on his career trajectory, claiming that if his relationship with Square Records had not deteriorated, his success would have eclipsed Wizkid’s. In a bold statement, he wrote, “If no be wetin happen between me and Psquare, who be Wiz? Chai.”
The fallout between Mr. May D and Square Records, the label owned by Peter and Paul Okoye of P-Square, marked a significant turning point in his career.
Many fans and industry insiders have since speculated on how different his career might have been if the partnership had remained intact.
