Carlo Ancelotti reveals what he expects from Kylian Mbappe
Real Madrid’s head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, discussed his expectations for forward Kylian Mbappé as the 2024/25 season unfolds.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, Ancelotti shared his thoughts on Mbappé, who joined Real Madrid as a free agent from PSG in the summer of 2024.
Ancelotti stated, “I prefer him to score goals rather than press. The role of the striker hasn’t changed. I ask him to do the same things I asked of Karim (Benzema): to position himself well and be clever during our ball recoveries to facilitate quick transitions.”
Mbappé has featured in 12 of Real Madrid’s 13 games this season, mostly starting, with eight goals and an assist to his name. Despite recent negative media attention following accusations from a Swedish media outlet, the 25-year-old forward played a pivotal role in Real Madrid’s 2-1 win over Celta Vigo on Saturday, October 19, 2024, scoring one of the goals.
