‘Everyone wants to fight me’ – Real Madrid’s hat-trick hero Vinicius Junior admits he’s ‘not a saint’ after being spotted taunting Barcelona bench in Spanish Super Cup final victory.
Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr., who scored a hat-trick in the Supercopa de Espana final against Barcelona, explained his taunting of the Barcelona bench after Ronald Araujo’s red card.
Vinicius was seen telling the Barca bench that the score was 4-1 after Araujo’s dismissal. In response to questions about the incident, Vinicius stated that he was not a saint but was there to learn and become better.
Speaking to the media, Vinicius said [via @Arancha Rodriguez on X]: “Everyone wants to fight me. I try my best to stay focused. I am not a saint. Sometimes I talk too much, sometimes I do dribbles that I don’t have to do and I want to learn. I’m here for that, to learn.”
Vinicius Jr has an impressive record against Barcelona, having faced them 16 times and emerged victorious in nine matches. He has scored six goals and provided two assists against Barca.
Real Madrid’s Supercopa de Espana victory also extended the historical trophy gap between the two clubs, with Real Madrid now holding 101 trophies to Barcelona’s 99. Vinicius Jr’s next match will be against Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey round of 16 on Thursday, January 18.
