In a surprising revelation, Big Zulu has disclosed that he and his artist, Lwah Ndlunkulu, received no compensation after her feature on the chart-topping song “Paris” by Mthandeni, also known as “Igcokama Elisha.”

According to the Nkabi Records head honcho, there was no formal agreement between him and Mthandeni when Lwah Ndlunkulu was asked to contribute to the song, which later became one of the biggest hits in South Africa in 2023.

Despite the song’s immense success, Big Zulu expressed that sometimes artists extend favours to each other in the spirit of brotherhood and unity. However, it appears that the runaway success of “Paris” has strained the working relationship between Mthandeni and Lwah Ndlunkulu.

The Imali Eningi hitmaker commented, “What can we do? I am happy for Lwah Ndlunkulu anyway because her rise and success reflect the hard work we put in behind the scenes at Nkabi Records.”

Surprisingly, Lwah Ndlunkulu was notably absent from the celebration event for “Paris” winning Song of The Year. Big Zulu defended her absence, explaining that Mthandeni’s unresponsiveness to calls made attending the event impractical.

In a statement addressing the queries flooding her timeline, Ndlu Nkulu clarified, “I called Mthandeni several times, but he would not answer my calls. Instead, his phone was picked up by his dancers. So, I can’t just go up and go to an event to perform for Mahala [for free]. Remember [that] I am signed under Nkabi Records, and there are protocols to be observed.”

This revelation adds a layer of complexity to the dynamics within the music industry, shedding light on the challenges and intricacies of collaboration, compensation, and professional relationships.
