Real Madrid sign ex-Newcastle flop Joselu from Espanyol on season-long loan with purchase option.
Joselu has officially been signed by Real Madrid from Espanyol on a temporary loan with the option to buy him at the end of the current season.
According to reports on Sunday that Joselu’s initial loan fee would be around €500,000 ($548.22, £427,649) and the option to purchase would cost roughly €1.5 million ($1.6 million, £1.3 million).
On Tuesday, he will be introduced as a Madrid player.
During his stay in the Spanish capital, Joselu played for Real’s ‘B’ squad Castilla from 2009 to 2012 and had two appearances for the senior team, scoring twice. Despite his team getting relegated, he scored 16 goals in 33 La Liga matches for Espanyol this season.

Karim Benzema left for Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad, and Mariano Diaz will also be leaving the club this month when his contract ends, leaving Real without a centre forward at the moment.
There is a solid rapport between Madrid and Espanyol, and the 14-time European winners have always been clear that they would only recruit Joselu with the consent of the demoted team.
The striker, who previously played for Stoke City and Newcastle United from 2015 to 2017 and from 2017 to 2019, joined Espanyol from Deportivo Alaves last summer.
He made his debut for Spain in March and was a member of the team that defeated Croatia on Sunday to win the 2023 Nations League after scoring the game-winning goal against Italy on Thursday.
