Davido Reveals Why Drake Sample Didn’t Make His ‘Timeless’ Album.
Nigerian award-winning artist David Adedeji Adeleke, known professionally as Davido, has spoken out about a Drake sample that was meant to be included in his new album ‘Timeless.’
The DMW founder was meant to feature Drake’s voice on his upcoming album, but that didn’t happen.
The highly awaited studio album “Timeless” by the international sensation from Nigeria has finally been released.
The 17-track album serves as the 4th in Davido’s highly decorated catalogue, following its predecessors, ‘A Better Time’, ‘A Good Time’, and ‘Omo Baba Olowo (The Genesis)’.
With guest appearances from the likes of Skepta, Angelique Kidjo, Asake, Musa Keys, Focalistic, FAVE, The Cavemen, Dexta Daps, and the newly signed artists on his rebranded DMW 2.0 imprint; Logos Olori and Morravey were featured on the project.
In an interview with BEAT FM, who renamed themselves TIMELESS FM (meant to last two days) in honor of the musician, the singer revealed that Fridayy, a DJ Khaled-endorsed song featuring a Drake sample, was supposed to be on the album but that it couldn’t be cleared in time, forcing him to proceed with the album’s release without it.
In addition, Davido announced that the deluxe edition of the album would come after and most likely contain the aforementioned song. During the conversation, he also acknowledged Drake for helping him in clearing the sample.
