Didier Deschamps discusses ’emotion’ after making it to his second straight World Cup final.
Didier Deschamps, the head coach of France, has acknowledged that he feels “full of emotion” and “proud” as his team advance to a second consecutive World Cup final.
After defeating Morocco on Wednesday night, Les Bleus will face Argentina on Sunday in an attempt to defend their title.
If France wins the World Cup once more, they will be just the third men’s team in history and the first since Pele’s Brazil in 1962 to successfully defend their title.
Speaking to TF1 after their semi-final victory, Deschamps – who also captained France to their first World Cup title in 1998 – only briefly touched on his current feelings before insisting he needs to switch gears and think ahead to Sunday’s showdown.

“There’s emotion, there’s pride,” Deschamps said.
“Once again, it was an important step. There’s still another one to go. We’ve been with the players for a month, it’s never easy, but it’s been a pleasure up to now.”
On Wednesday, France had to withstand some very intense pressure from Morocco, but they doggedly defended and rarely gave the Atlas Lions decent shots on goal.
Five minutes in, Theo Hernandez scored the game’s first goal, and late on at the Al Bayt Stadium, substitute Randal Kolo Muani calmed everyone down.
