Nigerian singer, Simisola Bolatito Kosoko better known as Simi has shared the struggle she had with fame at the start of her music career.

The vocalist of “Duduke” claimed that she struggled to handle stardom and the limelight.

This disclosure was made by Simi during an interview with GQ South Africa.

“You just do, I suppose. At the beginning of my career, I really had a problem with fame. I would always say I’m not designed for it. A lot of it is unreal and I’m not about that,” she said.

Continuing, the mother of one said,

“Many people didn’t know how to reconcile me being a celebrity with me being myself. But hey, all I know is how to be myself. Also, when something goes public, you can never really take it back. This guides me.”

Speaking on the inspiration behind her fourth studio album entitled, ‘To Be Honest’ the vocalist described it as a testimonial of her musical journey.

    She said

“Making music has always been about passion for me. So, I trust my instincts and hope that people connect to what I’m sharing with them…and most of the time, they do.

“I wanted to create something that showed a glimpse of me that people hadn’t really seen before. I wanted to display a less edited version of myself. I wanted to share my perspective of my own story. A lot of people have shared what they think I am, how they think I am, and what they think drives me. It’s my turn now.”

When asked what career she would have gone into if she didn’t become a musician, the “Loyal” crooner revealed she would have become a novelist.

She also stated that the dream of being a Novelist is still alive as she intends on authoring a book very soon.
