    Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, was the first Nigerian musician to headline a sold-out show at Madison Square Garden in New York, and reportedly grossed over N3 billion in ticket sales alone.

    Tickets ranged in price from $80 to $2,125, with an average of $350. According to calculations by BusinessDay using average sales of N145,365.50 ($350) multiplied by the total available capacity for a music concert in the arena of 20,789, with the current exchange rate of N415.33 the sum totals to $7,276,150 which cost over N3,022,003,379.50.

    The historic two-hour concert, titled “One Night in Space,” was also streamed live on YouTube, attracting over 81,000 people from Nigeria, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada.

    Burna Boy commenced the event wearing a black designer jacket and matching black slacks before changing into several fancy outfits to sing songs from his African Giant and Twice as Tall albums.

    On his Twitter handle he tweeted;

    “The Journey in NY has been a blessing. PlayStation theatre in 2017, Gramercy theatre in 2018, The Apollo in 2019 and Today 2022 we are in MADISON SQUARE GARDEN. Thank you NEW YORK for sticking with me all these years through this great Journey. Love, Damini,”
