Star boy sets new record for African Music
Afrobeat superstar Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known professionally as Wizkid, is off to an excellent start with records in 2022 as he rewrites history for African music on the Billboard charts with his album “Made In Lagos.”
Wizkid’s “Made In Lagos” album has set a new record for African and Nigerian music on the Billboard charts.

On Tuesday, February 22, 2022, the “MIL” album has become the longest-charting African album on the Billboard World Album charts, after spending a total of 67 weeks on the charts.
Wizkid had surpassed the existing record on the Billboard charts, which had been held by the legend Cesaria Evora’s album ‘Cesaria,’ which had spent 66 weeks on the charts.
This is a significant achievement for Afrobeat as a whole for global acceptance of African music is development.
