    Love Nwantiti

Ckay’s ‘Love Nwatinti‘ is the kind of success story that makes other success tales look like child’s play.

This year, the 2019 song soared and rose until it became an anthem all over the world, thanks largely to the love it received on Tiktok and the dance challenge that helped it reach a much broader audience.

    Alcohol Challenge

Joeboy, a Nigerian musician known for his portable-length hit songs, most likely expected his September release, Alcohol, to be a smash hit. What he didn’t expect was the Alcohol Challenge, which became popular on social media after the song’s release.

Fans uploaded videos of themselves singing along to the song while drowning in liquids, oil, soups, and meals.

After recordings of fans drinking and dumping dangerous chemicals on themselves went viral in October, the Baby singer had to appeal for order.

    Focus Dance Challenge

Earlier this year, the focus dance challenge went viral on social media thanks to a great instrumental from producer Ajimovoix.

Hagman DC, a dancer, choreographed a pointing dance move to the melody, and soon everyone was pointing along. Of course, it grew into such a large vibe that it would be unfair not to include it on this list.

    Shedibalabala

With their song ‘Shedibalabala,’ DJ Basplit and Hypeman Bobby Banks sparked this viral challenge that raced over Naija social media like a cyclone at the middle of the year.

Participants in the challenge are required to bounce their booty wildly to the demand of the music as the NSFW tune plays in the background, and trust Nigerians… they went wild on it.

    #Nobodylikewoman

Simisola Kosoko, a Nigerian singer, has long been a passionate critic of sexism and its problems in society.

In October, she posted a photo of herself on Instagram with the caption “‘How can she ask for that kind of money?” “Is she not pregnant?” scrawled across her back.

Other female celebrities and social media users followed suit, using the hashtag #Nobodylikewoman to post black-and-white photos with nasty and discriminating comments they had gotten in the past.

Simi later revealed that she created the hashtag to highlight the strengths of women who choose to fight negativity and flourish in the face of persecution and discrimination. She also launched a song and music video titled Woman to keep up with the trend.
