Fireboy DML vs T Classic: Unique Potential
Now let’s talk some big boys talk. Because, yes, “Wizkid vs Davido” is so old school. Besides, we’ve even got over that, already. So we just have to talk about the real stuff we got going right now. And, if we will be honest, two artists that have made solid impressions, within the space of a year, especially in 2019, are YBNL’s whiz kid, Fireboy DML and the young superstar, T Classic.
Sooner or later, we’re gonna be having this conversation. Perhaps when one of them beats the other to get a “Most Promising Act” award. But before we get into a fight, picking sides, it’s only right we do a friendly comparison of both arts. So yeah, Fireboy DML vs T Classic, what’s up with it?

Talent
It’s probably irrelevant to state that Fireboy and T Classic are both super talented artists. We know they are very talented, but just how much of them do we know to pitch them against each other? Not much actually.
T Classic has a more afro-pop style while Fireboy strikes us with a rather alternative approach. While T Classic will get a Mayorkun or Kizz Daniel comparison, Fireboy has already been paraded as the new Adekunle Gold, now that some think Adekunle is now an old man (since he’s married now.)
On “Fall In Love”, T Classic very much sounded like Kizz Daniel, even his vocals on the hook had some certain notes only Kizz sounded. “I’ll Be Fine” which had lyrics similar to what Adekunle did on “Ire”, was the reason people first started saying perhaps Fireboy DML could take the place of the ex YBNL singer.
It’s safe to say nobody will compare you to either Kizz Daniel or Adekunle Gold if you aren’t insanely talented. Real talent and I believe we haven’t even seen anything yet.

Rivals
It’s not hard to see how the two guys can be rivals. With even more conversations going on about who is 2019’s biggest break-out, it’s safe to anticipate that fans will start to pitch both artists together. Of course, arguments like that have been some of the stuff keeping some artists in check, making sure they don’t falter. Things can get messy fast, though.
So far, there’s not been any trouble. We can only hope it stays that way, but if it doesn’t, who is likely to have an upper hand?
Fireboy has got a cult-like following, due to his underground activities, even before he was ever signed to Olamide’s YBNL Nation. We’re talking of people who will block their friend’s asses if they try to slander Fireboy. That deep, yeah. And he’s a sweet compromise between mainstream and alternative. Who wouldn’t kill for that?
T Classic, on the other, used to be underground too. But in recent times, however, has become more of a mainstream guy. His collaborations with some big guns in the industry like Mayorkun and Peruzzi has definitely earned him a spot at the big table. Many people love T Classic, too.
So, we’re talking of a potential Wizkid vs. Davido, if anything like that ever happens. Again, we’re hoping it doesn’t.

Friends
What’s even better than seeing two artists curse out each other with sub-tweets, throwing subliminal shades and dissing each other? It’s definitely a good friendship and top-notch collaborations.
What if instead of talking about Fireboy DML vs T Classic, it becomes a Fireboy feat. T Classic? Wouldn’t that just be amazing? Of course, it would! Does it look like it’s gonna happen? Maybe, in the future.
As unlikely as it may seem, T Classic and Fireboy DML may decide to do collaboration and thrill us all. That will be the best collabo of the year, no doubt. It’s better if it hits us as a surprise, yeah?
And both artists have shown that they can flow well on tracks with other artists. As we’ve seen Fireboy do on tracks like “Sing” which featured Oxlade, “Fire Down” off the YBNL Mafia tape which had now ex-YBNL soldier, Picazo and “Finally” featuring YBNL Princess, Temmie Ovwasa.
T Classic had a collaboration with Mayorkun, on the track “Fall In Love” and also the star-studded “Kana” which had Peruzzi, Terri, and Haekinz. He’ll definitely also pull a collaboration with just about anybody.
Platform
MixNaija Entertainment is the name of T Classic’s label, and he’s been on the imprint for quite a while now. Even when he was still very close to Killertunes and his guys (aka C Natty). Yeah, and his involvement with afrobeat god, Killertunes is always gonna be a blessing to his career. Right now, he’s got all eyes on him.
FireBoy DML meanwhile is signed to YBNL Nation, owned by superstar rapper, Olamide. A label that used to be home to big guys like Lil Kesh, Adekunle Gold, Chinko Ekun and Viktoh. Although being signed to YBNL doesn’t quite mean what it used to mean many years ago, after the failure of Davolee and a host of other guys who has exited the label. But in this industry, it’s still something. He’s also got a whole lot of eyes staring at him, paying him full attention.
Tracks
To cap it all, here is a shortlist of a few notable tracks the two guys have released, so far. You should definitely download ‘em if you don’t have them.
Fireboy DML: What If I Say, Jealous, I’ll Be Fine, You, Fire Down (feat. Picazo)
T Classic: Nobody Fine Pass You, Kana (feat. Peruzzi, Terri, Haekinz), Fall In Love (feat. Mayorkun)
Watch out for these two guys, they’re two of the most promising right now. One thing you should remember, though, is Fireboy’s recent tweet that he won’t have anyone disrespecting another artist in his mentions. I honestly think he would rather no one is fighting over who’s better between him and T Classic, or anybody else, for that matter. So, yeah, they are both good and on their own lanes. Why won’t you just enjoy both of ‘em and see how good that feels?
