Every year since 2016, when they first got together for the “Bad” collaboration, Wizkid and Tiwa Savage have always linked up to do some strange things. And it’s always fire!
In 2017, they came up with the smash hit and collaboration of the year winner, “Ma Lo” which was produced by Spellz. And while they didn’t really do a single together, last year, the official video for Wizkid’s “Fever” did the magic. How did we ever stop talking about it?
DJ Spinall’s new single, “Dis Love”, may just be this year’s big offering from the ‘couple.’ It’s not just because it’s Wizkid and Tiwa, anyway. But that too, yeah. Top Boy Spinall is probably looking for leverage for a big hit, who knows when a new album will hit us? But the fact that Wizkid and Tiwa Savage are on “Dis Love” means it’s bigger than that.
Recall that Wizkid was recently just on a song with a legendary American singer, Beyonce, (“Brown Skin Girl”) off the Lion King gift album. Wait, you don’t even have to recall that, right? Tiwa Savage also, the Queen that she is, also secured a spot on the LP on “Keys To The Kingdom” with Mr Eazi.
So, if anyone was keeping a collaboration with either of the two singers, there is no better time to release it. Luckily for Spinall, he had one with both of them. And it’s not just another song, it’s a banger.
“Dis Love” has a dancehall vibe that keeps yelling “club!” It’s mushy like it’s supposed to be. Romance ain’t ever a problem. But it’s also got its complexity. The beat, for instance, is a classic dancehall that could take in a “Murder She Wrote” sample. Heavy percussions, of course.
The chemistry they have is undeniable. Especially when Tiwa sings a part Wiz originally did, as a solo. No doubt, they make a good couple on the mic.
Wizkid and Tiwa Savage
Wizkid’s Manya-kind vibe was on as he dropped the lines, pausing to catch his breath after each line. Tiwa did the same. They went back and forth for a while, you wouldn’t know there was a story. And there’s that one thing about “Jamaican” they kept saying.
On top of it all, Spinall gave them the whole song, and definitely wasn’t the one in control of the creative process. To be honest, there’s no better combo to make a hit, at this time. And if there is still another Wizkid x Tiwa Savage coming, it’s definitely bad-ass!
