The first half of the year just bowed out, and half the year is actually gone. I think that leaves us with new music from all sides. More than before, guys are now releasing music. Like they’re recovering from some retirement or something. Its election year, so, yeah, we understand.
What new music is banging the streets, anyway? And are these new songs really worth checking out? That may be a subjective question, but Vic O has music out too, and you probably don’t want to have that on your playlist more than you want to start your week with it. I guess that makes two of us, though.
But a couple of hits are out there, that everyone should definitely check out. You should put them on your playlist, and bang ’em all week long. Really.
Olamide, Wizkid, ID Cabasa – Totori
This is a jam that has been teased earlier this year. You know when Olamide and Wizkid decide to collaborate, it’s always a banger. So what happens when a veteran producer like ID Cabasa gets in the mix? I guess we’ll just have to find out.
“Totori” is a perfect jam, to light up a party, as well as also good for your playlist. It captures the Star boy in his raw-est form, and Olamide just dropping vibes like he’s always done. You don’t really need a perfect sounding instrumental when you have Wizkid and Olamide. You can just perform live!
Oladips – Maybe
Oladips’ exit from Reminisce’s LRR label, is now official and public as the youngster pours out his heart on this new one, “Maybe.”
Maybe you’re not a fan, and you’ve not listened to most of his music, but I still think “Maybe” is worth checking out. He talked at length about his record deal gone wrong, his ordeal and where he’s currently at with former boss, Reminisce. I swear, it’s not a good place.
Oladips who is known for such singles as “ChaChe” and “LaLakulala,” has been consistent in the game for a while but his career never really took off. Still he remains one of the most respected underground indigenous rappers.
Terri – Same You
Terri is Starboy’s asset. The “Bia” singer is quickly become a name to reckon with in the industry, and with a few more clicks right, he’d be the star we all want.
“Same You” got all the vibe you will love, as Terri Ryan never disappoints. He became a sensation after his electric verse on Wizkid’s 2018 hit, “Soco.” He’s since dropped other singles which are critical and commercial successes (“Bia,” “Shuu” etc.)
Danny S – Miracle Miracle
Danny S went viral during the Shaku Shaku era with his “Ege” hit. Since then, he’s not really been the hot guy you would expect, but one thing he has done is give us freestyles, over and over.
He must be really good at freestyles, huh? Or he’s just lazy and everything is a freestyle to him? It doesn’t matter. What matters right now is, you should probably check out his latest, “Miracle Miracle.” It serves as a follow up to his “Waka Jeje” single which featured Olamide.
Timaya – 2stoopid
Is Timaya trying to do some Zanku vibe? You should probably find that out yourself.
On “2stoopid”, the veteran dance hall singer, who has been on the scene for close to a decade and a half, rides the beat while dropping some almost inaudible lines.
Overall, this is a jam everyone should check out. It’s a reminder that Timaya is never really gone. Really.
