When you say all those industry tags like “next rated”, “serial hitmaker” or “A-List”, Skiibii is really not who comes to mind. For a guy who all his hits have been sleepers, people don’t even think he’s underrated.
He was signed to Five Star Music for a couple years, where he had all the resources, the platform. Not that the guy didn’t get to be on songs with Kcee, Harrysong or some other top shot (aka Olamide.) But he never really took off. At least not like the Mavin guys, or Kizz or Kesh.
So when he left Five Star, it was just another L.A.X dumping his recording company because his career isn’t what he expected. But a few months after, and things have straightened.
In just a little while, he’s done “Gara”, “Omaema”, “Sensima” with Reekado Banks, and now his hit, “Daz How Star Do” is kinda like the hottest thing, right now. You just know a hit when you hear it, and the covers that are starting to come in are more like a testament. But why is tghe jam so cool?
Skiibii
I’ve said quite a few things about the “London” singer, but one thing I’ve not mentioned is that he’s freaking talented! Skiibii has the talent, and years of constant search for a hit has honed him, so good you don’t hear anybody say “Skiibii, I don’t like that guy.”
When he first hit the news, back in the day, with a publicity stunt that became controversial, he was just a guy. Nobody even knew what he sounded like at the time. But we’ve kinda grown into him, now.
So, imagine “Daz How Star Do” without Skiibii’s talent, and what do you have left? Rhetoric.
Falz, Teni & DJ Neptune
Falz and Teni are not the combination you’d expect, I mean. But two good artists on a track, what harm could that do?
Dictated by the vibe, Teni rapped a few bars before she added some of her own sauce to it.
Falz still with his storyline rap, and DJ Neptune, that’s just greatness. Right?
Classic Funk
It’s not everyday you see guys in the industry change the vibe away from all the Afro-fusion stuffs. In fact, Skiibii’s one flaw until now is having songs that sound all the same. Same old tune, same lyrics, same stuff.
But “Daz How Star Do” is a really big digression from the status quo. Classical funk sounds, like some American shit, well, daz how star do.
Overall, it’s got an irresistible vibe, catchy and maybe the instrumental could have been better? But it’s all fun. It’s not perfect, but with a magical vibe, Skiibii, Teni, Falz and Neptune, you still asking why we think “Daz How Star Do” is cool?
It’s been just so few weeks, it’s hot and still trending!
