The organizers of The Headies have announced a major surprise for 2025: two separate editions of the prestigious award show.

Ayo Animashaun, founder of The Headies, unveiled the schedule during an event in Victoria Island, Lagos, on Tuesday evening.

According to him, the 17th edition of The Headies will take place on April 5, celebrating the music of 2024. The nominations list for this edition is set to be released on February 12.
Meanwhile, the 18th edition is scheduled for December 2025, though the exact date has yet to be disclosed.

In February 2024, the organizers confirmed that the 17th edition would return to Nigeria after hosting the 2022 and 2023 ceremonies in the United States.
The 16th Headies took place at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta, Georgia, the same venue as the previous year’s edition.
Established in 2006, The Headies remains one of Nigeria’s most prestigious music award shows, recognizing excellence in the industry.

The Headies Executive Producer, Mr. Ayo Animashaun, in a statement released on Monday, January 20, 2025.
He revealed that the upcoming edition promises to be exceptional, stating, “This year’s edition is packed with an extraordinary lineup of events, culminating in a week-long celebration of the industry’s growth and artistic ingenuity.”
