Nigerian singer Spyro has opened up about the unexpected way he met his fiancée, revealing that their love story began in a nightclub but not in the way many people might assume.

Speaking during a recent interview, the singer explained that his partner was employed at the venue and was not there to socialize.

According to him, it was her presence at work that first sparked his curiosity and eventually led to a conversation that changed his life.

Spyro said he was interested in finding out why she worked at the club, and that simple interaction gradually developed into a friendship. At the time, however, he admitted he had no intention of pursuing a serious relationship.

It was only later, after spending more time with her, that he realised she possessed the qualities he had been searching for in a life partner.

“I met my partner working in the club, not partying in the club, but that’s not to say that partying is wrong. But she was working there and that’s how I got to notice her. I was curious to know why she was working at the club, and that was what made me have my first conversation with her.

We got talking and we became friends. The one day my eyes popped up and I was like ‘Oh what I have been looking for was right in front of me.’ because I wasn’t really thinking of making it a lifetime thing, so I said before I quickly miss it, lemme swing into action…” he said.

The singer’s revelation has since sparked conversations among fans, with many describing the story as a reminder that meaningful relationships can begin in the most unexpected places and that first impressions do not always tell the full story.

“I met my wife in the club, but she wasn’t doing rubbish — she was just working there. 😭

We became friends first, then one day my eyes just opened… and I ended up marrying her”

Nigerian singer Spyro has once again spoken out on issues affecting the country, expressing concern over what he describes as a lack of urgency surrounding the abduction of teachers and students in Oyo State.

Spyro Questions Silence Over Abducted Oyo Teachers and Students

In a strongly worded statement, the singer lamented that despite the seriousness of the incident, public attention appears to have moved on, with political activities and endorsements continuing as normal while the affected families remain in distress.

Spyro questioned why some politicians and celebrities are still actively involved in campaigns and public displays of political support when, according to him, there are pressing humanitarian issues that deserve greater attention.

The singer was particularly critical of celebrities backing President Bola Tinubu, arguing that compassion for citizens facing hardship and insecurity should come before political affiliations or personal gains.

He also used the opportunity to remind public figures that wealth, fame, and influence are not permanent, stressing that life can change unexpectedly regardless of status or success.

He said …

“It’s the first of June and there’s still no news about the teachers and children that were abduct£d, and it’s just business as usual in Nigeria, politicians are still campaigning and some fuuls called celebrities are still campaigning, some of them have children and I can’t seem to understand where their empathy lies, it’s about about the money and their luxury cars! You’re a nobody, you’re dust, a s!ckness can come today and take away everything you think you have as a celebrity…”

His comments add to the growing number of voices within the entertainment industry calling for greater attention to security concerns and the welfare of citizens affected by violence and abductions across the country.

In a video shared on social media, the singer questioned why many churches and mosques have continued with regular preaching and activities while violence, fear, and economic struggles continue to affect citizens across the nation.

According to Spyro, religious gatherings at a time like this should go beyond routine sermons and focus more on addressing the realities facing Nigerians, especially the worsening security situation.

The singer stressed that both Christian and Muslim leaders have a responsibility to stand up for the people and challenge the government to take stronger action during difficult periods.

He argued that faith leaders hold enormous influence in society and should use their platforms to advocate for justice, protection, and accountability rather than remain silent while citizens struggle.

Spyro also expressed concern over how daily activities across the country appear to be continuing normally despite the tense atmosphere created by insecurity. He noted that the situation should ordinarily trigger greater national urgency and collective concern among citizens and leaders alike.

His remarks have since generated mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians agreeing with his position on the role of religious institutions during national crises, while others argued that spiritual centres are already doing their part through prayers and support for communities.

The track explores themes of love, vulnerability, sacrifice, and the emotional risks that come with building genuine human connection. Rather than focusing on the upbeat party energy often associated with Afrobeats, Your Love takes a more reflective and heartfelt direction.

Spyro anchors the record with his signature smooth melodies and uplifting delivery, bringing warmth and familiarity to the song’s emotional core. Loyey complements this with a rich, layered production style influenced by a wide range of sounds, including Fuji, African traditional rhythms, R&B, rock, salsa, and Brazilian funk.

Beyond music production, Loyey also brings strong cinematic experience to the collaboration, having worked on notable Nollywood soundtracks such as Everybody Loves Jenifa, Red Circle, Thin Line, and Son of the Soil. That background adds a film-like emotional texture to the song’s arrangement and mood.

Together, both artists create a balanced and immersive listening experience that feels both personal and expansive, positioning Your Love as a standout collaboration built on authenticity, musical depth, and cross-genre creativity.

Nigerian Afrobeats singer Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, popularly known as Spyro, has opened up about his long and difficult journey to stardom, revealing how years of struggle nearly broke him before his eventual breakthrough.

Taking to his Instagram page, the singer shared a heartfelt reflection on his career, disclosing that he spent over a decade pushing through setbacks, disappointments, and moments of doubt before finally gaining recognition about three years ago.

According to Spyro, his turning point came at a time when he was at his lowest, a period he described as critical in his life. He credited his rise not just to hard work, but to what he believes was divine intervention, urging others facing similar struggles to remain hopeful.

“If someone had told me 3 years ago that I would become this fly, I would have argued it, and now I look at my life, and all I can say to someone reading this is please don’t give up… I have been in the industry hustling for 16 years, and I was at my lowest when JESUS changed it all, and that same JESUS is still in the business of changing lives, JUST BELIEVE,” he wrote.

Spyro’s message has resonated with fans online, many of whom see his story as a reminder that success often comes after years of persistence. His journey highlights the reality behind the spotlight—one filled with patience, resilience, and unwavering belief.

Nigerian Afrobeats singer Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, widely known as Spyro, has voiced fresh concerns about what he sees as a gradual erosion of value in the contemporary music landscape, warning that the shift is contributing to a wider moral decline across society.

The singer shared his thoughts during an appearance on the Adesope Live show, where he reflected on the kind of music that shaped earlier generations.

Spyro noted that back then, artists were more deliberate about storytelling, emotional resonance, and social impact elements he believes are slowly fading from today’s sound.

According to the Who’s Your Guy crooner, many modern tracks prioritise catchy rhythms and instant appeal, often at the expense of meaningful content.

He argued that this trend has diluted music’s cultural power, saying artists now seem more invested in the financial rewards than in influencing society for good.

Spyro urged musicians to rethink their approach and reconnect with the core purpose of music, using creativity to both entertain and inspire.

He stressed that while “vibes” are an important part of modern Afrobeats, they should not overshadow the emotional and moral depth that once defined the art form.

He appealed to his colleagues to be more intentional about their lyrical choices, adding that restoring substance to music could play a role in tackling the social issues affecting communities today.

“Music has lost its intrinsic value… A lot of the decadence that we have in the society today can be traced to the fact that music has lost its value.”

Speaking during an interview with Adesope Shopsydoo, the “Who’s Your Guy?” hitmaker explained that many fans have the wrong impression about his success simply because he doesn’t live loudly or chase industry popularity.

Spyro revealed that while people often assume artists rely heavily on concerts and public events to make money, his own earnings flow from a completely different stream: corporate performances.

According to him, top financial institutions and business moguls regularly book him for exclusive shows. He listed names like Zenith Bank, UBA, and companies linked to Tony Elumelu as frequent clients, an unusual but lucrative niche many artists never tap into.

The singer also emphasized that his financial discipline plays a major role in where he stands today, noting that he immediately reinvests every payment he receives.

In his words:
“If I stop making music today, I am made already. A lot of people don’t know this because I don’t come out to brag. I don’t do industry shows; I do corporate shows. It’s Zenith Bank, UBA, Tony Elumelu, etc. that book me. Anytime money enters my account, I invest it immediately.

I am one of the most blessed artistes. If you count 20 rich and blessed artistes today, my name will be among them,” Spyro bragged.

His remarks have generated mixed reactions. While some listeners applauded his focus, money management, and ability to stay grounded, others felt his declaration bordered on unnecessary boasting.

Still, one thing is clear: Spyro is carving his own lane, and he’s doing it with the kind of confidence that keeps people talking.

Nigerian singer Spyro has issued a passionate appeal to Nigerians, including celebrities, influencers, and public figures, to rise, speak out, and demand accountability from the government amid what he describes as looming foreign threats and external interference.

In a lengthy Instagram post, the “Who’s Your Guy” crooner warned that no foreign nation has Nigeria’s best interest at heart, stressing that “they are not coming to save us but to destroy.”

Spyro cautioned against complacency and silence, urging influential figures to use their voices and platforms to push the government into decisive action.

According to him, this is not a time for posturing or neutrality, as the stability of the country affects everyone from entertainers to business owners and religious leaders.

“WAR in a country threatens everyone,” he wrote. “Every surviving person will be too busy looking for what to eat. No one will have time to listen to music, watch movies, go to church or mosque, or even do business.”

Spyro emphasized that influence only exists because of the people, reminding fellow celebrities that “without the people, no platform/influence” remains.

He also warned Nigerians to be wary of deceptive foreign narratives, saying, “I know it looks like a savior is coming, but the Devil always disguises as an angel of light. His actual aim is to steal, kill, and destroy.”

Concluding his message, Spyro called this a “critical moment” in Nigeria’s history, urging everyone — from entertainers to spiritual leaders — to leverage their voices to demand accountability and protect the nation from harm.

Tim Godfrey has never been one to play it safe, and with his new album, No Label, the gospel maestro once again proves that faith and creativity can coexist without boundaries.

Set for global release on October 31st, the project is more than just a collection of songs; it’s a declaration of freedom, a movement that dares gospel music to dream beyond its walls.

Tim Godfrey Breaks Boundaries With New Album “No Label”

From the first listen, No Label feels like a bold conversation between heaven and the dance floor. Godfrey fuses the spiritual intensity of worship with the infectious pulse of Afrobeats, crafting a sound that’s as joyful as it is devotional. It’s a musical statement that says: praise can live on any rhythm; worship has no limits.

The album’s collaborations capture that balance perfectly. Oxlade and Spyro bring a contemporary Afrobeats energy that complements Tim’s gospel fire, resulting in songs that are both uplifting and sonically rich.

On Infinity, Oxlade opens with the resonant line, “Me I never see wetin God cannot do,” setting the tone for a track soaked in gratitude and divine awe. Meanwhile, Cho Cho Cho and Praise The Lord bring pure celebration—proof that gospel music can make you dance just as much as it can make you reflect.

Behind the boards, Masterkraft adds another dimension to the project, blending percussive grooves and lush harmonies that make the music soar. His production ensures No Label feels deeply rooted in faith yet alive in today’s Afrobeats rhythm, offering something spiritual and contemporary in equal measure.

It’s a natural evolution for Tim Godfrey, who has long been at the forefront of reimagining gospel in Africa. Through his Fearless concert series—where he’s shared the stage with legends like Kirk Franklin, Travis Greene, and Israel Houghton—he’s built a bridge between global gospel culture and African creativity.

With No Label, that bridge becomes a superhighway. The album isn’t just about redefining gospel—it’s about redefining what it means to worship in a modern world. It’s bold, it’s soulful, and above all, it’s fearless.

Fresh off the release of his ambitious debut album, ‘The Men, The Boys and Your Guy,’ Spyro has thrown down a historic challenge, confidently declaring his new project as the single greatest Afrobeats album released in the last 16 years.

The singer made the statement during a recent interview with SoundCity Radio that’s going viral on social media.

Spyro placed his new album above a decade and a half of modern Afrobeats projects in a period that includes global stars like Wizkid’s ‘Made in Lagos,’ Burna Boy’s ‘African Giant,’ Omah Lay’s ‘Boy Alone,’ Asake’s ‘Mr. Money With The Vibes,’ and Davido’s ‘Timeless.’

Following the album’s release on September 26, 2025, Spyro insists the competition isn’t with his contemporaries but with a foundational classic: Wande Coal’s 2009 masterpiece, Mushin 2 Mo’Hits.

“For me, the highest level of album prowess is Mushin 2 MoHits,” Spyro stated.

While he agreed that the albums by Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy are great, he maintained, “For me, the only album that I was looking to break the record for when I was making this album was Mushin 2 MoHits because that’s the only album that I’ve listened to that I have no skips on. Literally no skips.”

He concluded emphatically: “That’s the only album that in the last 16 years, I just want to beat this record.”

The singer views this innovative structure as his trump card.

“What I did on that project has not been done before. This is an innovation. You can’t compare it because they are not the same,” he argued, daring critics to find a structural equivalent.

He added that the public reaction backs his sentiment: “When I checked out comments on Twitter… people kept tweeting, and those tweets were not paid for. I feel like, for me, this is my opinion now. Listen to the album!”

While fans will greatly dispute Spyro’s claims of having the best album in Afrobeats since Wande Coal’s ‘Mushin 2 Mohits,’ his chest thumping is typical of stars who are confident in their talent and ability.

Nigerian singer Spyro has shared a deeply personal reflection on his experiences with criticism in the entertainment industry, revealing that he has faced more judgment from fellow Christians than from any other group.

Speaking on Frank Edoho’s podcast, the Who Is Your Guy crooner expressed surprise and disappointment at how some members of the Christian community have reacted to his faith-driven image since he began openly identifying as a “Jesus boy.”

“The biggest problem I’ve ever had in this industry so far is the Christians, not even the Muslims,” Spyro admitted. “I was shocked when I came into the industry because, in my head, I’m like, ‘Okay, we are family.’ So when they started calling me out for wearing earrings and all, I was shocked.”

He went on to explain his perspective on faith and outreach, emphasizing that true Christianity involves connecting with people beyond the walls of the church.

“My own thing is, how do we reach them if we’re not in the world? The Bible says, ‘Go ye into the world,’ not ‘stay in the church.’ Go into the world and preach the gospel. The gospel is not religion or judging people for looking a certain way,” he said.

Spyro clarified that while he is vocal about his Christian faith, he does not consider himself a gospel artist. Instead, he describes himself as an entertainer whose music, though clean, is made for everyone.

According to him, parts of his past interviews were edited in ways that misrepresented his message and made him appear controversial or insincere about his beliefs.

“My words were twisted to make me look like the devil,” he recounted. “I went for an interview where my words were chopped to create new sentences.”

The singer also reflected on the societal discomfort surrounding open declarations of faith, saying it has only strengthened his conviction.

“I’ve noticed that people don’t have issues with any other thing, but once you mention Jesus, there is a problem. That makes me believe that there is something to this Jesus. I’m here to stay, irrespective of all the threats to cancel me; God brought me here.”

Spyro’s openness adds a new layer to his public persona, showing the tension between faith, fame, and authenticity in an industry often driven by perception.

For Nigerian singer Oludipe David, better known as Spyro, success didn’t come wrapped in comfort or confidence; it was a long, painful wrestle with fear.

In a heartfelt chat with veteran broadcaster Frank Edoho, the Who Is Your Guy crooner opened up about his deep-seated fear of failure and how his father’s harsh words once shaped his childhood self-image.

According to Spyro, growing up was tough. His father, though strict and well-meaning, often used negative words while correcting him, words that left scars far deeper than he realized at the time.

“I thought I was going to die broke. I always had this fear of failure. And my dad contributed to that. He took every opportunity he got to always tell me that I am a failure,” Spyro confessed.

Those words, he said, became a silent echo in his mind, making him internalize the idea that he wasn’t good enough. The result was years of self-doubt, from struggling with poor grades in secondary school to questioning if he could ever finish his university degree.

“I used to feel like maybe I wasn’t meant to succeed,” he admitted, describing how atychiphobia the fear of failure followed him into adulthood.

But Spyro’s story took a turn when he found faith. He said developing a personal relationship with God became the anchor that steadied his mind and helped him unlearn the fear that had once controlled his life.

Before his big break, Spyro revealed that he was already on the verge of quitting music altogether. With no sign of progress, he turned to interior design to make ends meet until destiny intervened.

Then came 2022, and with it, the life-changing success of Who Is Your Guy. The viral hit not only catapulted him to fame but also reminded him that his story was far from over.

The following year, the remix featuring Tiwa Savage became a continental anthem, winning Best Collaboration at the 16th Headies Awards, a moment Spyro now sees as divine redemption.

Looking back, the singer says his journey has taught him that faith, not fear, defines one’s future.

From a boy once called a failure to a man inspiring millions, Spyro’s story is a quiet reminder that belief can heal what doubt once broke.
