President Tinubu, Governor Sanwo-Olu hail Tems’ historic Grammy win

Nigerian singer Tems has received high praise from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu following her remarkable victory at the 67th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.
President Tinubu, in a congratulatory message on X (formerly Twitter), commended Tems for bringing pride to Nigeria with her outstanding achievement.
He wrote: “Congratulations to @temsbaby on winning the Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance, ‘Love Me Jeje.’ I am proud of her accomplishments and those of Nigerian origin who were nominated for the Grammy Awards. Their achievements continue to inspire all Nigerians. Congratulations!”

Joining the celebration, Governor Sanwo-Olu described Tems’ Grammy win as a well-deserved honor that showcases her immense talent and contributions to the global music industry. He hailed the Lagos-born artist for once again proving her exceptional creative abilities.
“Temilade Openiyi once again has proved to the world that she is a creative of an uncommon talent,” the governor stated. “We thank her for bringing the Best African Music Performance Grammy back to Nigeria. As a Lagosian, we are excited with her success.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu further emphasized Lagos’ role as the epicenter of entertainment, creativity, and tourism in West Africa. “Tems winning the 67th Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance is a confirmation that our dear Lagos State remains the hub of entertainment, creativity, and tourism in the West African sub-region,” he added.

Meanwhile, Tems’ fans have flooded social media with celebratory messages, expressing excitement over her second career Grammy win.
At the 67th Grammy Awards, Tems secured the Best African Music Performance award for her song ‘Love Me Jeje,’ produced by Guilty Beatz, from her debut album ‘Born in the Wild.’
She was also nominated in two other categories: Best Global Music Album ‘(Born in the Wild)‘ and Best R&B Song ‘(Burning).‘
Her song ‘Love Me Jeje’ triumphed over stiff competition, including:
