Joao Felix explains difference between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
Joao Felix has highlighted the style of play as the key difference between Barcelona and his former club, Atletico Madrid.
The talented forward made a loan move to Barcelona from Atletico on deadline day during the summer transfer window, ending a challenging period at the Estadio Civitas Metropolitano.
Atletico had paid a club record £113 million to acquire Felix from Benfica in 2019, but the Portugal international struggled to make a significant impact during his time with the club, failing to reach double figures in goals in any of his four seasons in Madrid.
Since joining Barcelona, Felix has displayed signs of improved form, scoring three goals in his first six appearances in all competitions, including two in a UEFA Champions League match against Royal Antwerp.
During a press conference ahead of Barcelona’s upcoming Champions League game against Porto, Felix was asked about the differences between his new club and Atletico.
He stated, “As I have said several times, the difference between Barcelona and Atletico can be seen in everything, in the team, the club. We can see the way Barcelona play compared to Atletico. It is not bad, but I have adapted better to the way that Barcelona plays. Now I’m happy, and that’s the most important thing.”
Felix went on to praise Barcelona as a big club known for their style of play, saying he has adapted well to their approach. He also acknowledged the challenge of maintaining a high level of performance.
Previously, Felix had mentioned that he found everything “easier” at Barcelona compared to his time at Atletico Madrid under the management of Diego Simeone, emphasizing the positive environment and talented teammates at his new club.
