Guinness World Records: ‘It costs a lot of money organising the cook a thon’ – Hilda Baci
Hilda Baci, a chef from Nigeria, revealed that organizing her cook-a-thon to set a Guinness World Record cost her a lot of money.
The woman who completed the 100-hour cooking marathon claimed that planning the event took more than a year.
While being interviewed for a Channels Television Interview, Hilda disclosed this. The restaurant owner claimed it took her more than five years to come up with the idea for the event and a year and a half to decide if it would go forward.
She said; “I have been overwhelmed with love in a very good way, I did not expect it to be this massive, but I am very grateful.
“It took us about six months to plan the actual event up to execution; it took a year and five months from when I decided this would happen, and the idea came to me five years ago”
When asked what it cost to organise the event, Hilda said: “Especially at that scale and size, it costs a lot of money; I cannot specifically give the figure”.
On Monday, May 15, 2023, Baci, a 27-year-old, broke Indian Chef Lata Tondon’s previous record of 87 hours, 45 minutes, by cooking for up to 100 hours.
The Guinness World Record team has yet to formally recognize Hilda as the new record holder, and this is because it has to thoroughly examine the available data.
GWR said; “We are aware of this amazing record attempt, we need to review all the evidence first before officially confirming a record”.
The four-day “cook-a-thon” was started by Baci on Thursday, May 11, at 4 p.m. in Amore Gardens in Lekki, Lagos State, and it ended on Monday, May 15, at 8 p.m.
