Falz the bahd guy started off the year on a rather high and loud note, with his “Moral Instruction” album, which had quite some amazing content on it.
Content, as they say, is king. And Falz? He got a whole lot of that. That’s why he’s still one of the best rappers out there.
From the LP, a couple of tracks became big hits, and they stuck. There’s “Talk” which came even before the album was released, and got tongues wagging. Then there’s “Brother’s Keeper” featuring talented producer, Sess The Prblm Kid which got a video. There’s the hip-hop track, “Johnny” and afrobeat “Hypocrite” featuring Demmie Vee.
Even Falz sef na artist, and a few months ago, he did a rather commercial one, “Alakori” with Dice Ailes. The afro-hip track was an instant hit, trending for weeks and it’s a cool vibe too. But, after all these while, he’s gotta give us more than just a cool vibe. Right? So what could possibly be perfect enough, to become a big hit without him losing his cred? A love song?
Falz is a good rapper, we all know that. But if there’s one thing the guy also got, it’s versatility. He’s a bad-ass rapper, and he still got the ability to burst some afro vibe, as we’ve seen him do in the past on tracks like “Jeje.” He’s got all the vibe, in him somewhere. When is a better time than now to show us what he got?
It’s the last days of summer, as some would say, so “Loving” is a perfect tune. From the first time, you push play and you hear the instrumental and you hear the afrobeat with that high life feel, you know you’re in for a real treat. Then Falz comes in with his pre-chorus.
“Girl I like how you look tonight, girl you got me feeling right…” It’s magical, yeah.
The symphony that is on the chorus is everything, strong backups, hilarious ad libs. The verses have Falz rapping about his love interest, Folasade and how he is ready to marry her. For one, it’s a great sing-along and you could absolutely lip sync this.
What about production? We should definitely talk about what Yung Willis put into this beat? He not only got the percussions rolling, but he also got some cool strings as the song flowed. It’s arguably his best production, so far. And it’s not just because it’s a Falz song. This is a hell of a tune on its own.
Falz shows us he still got some jokes left in him as he pulls a skit towards the end of the song. Kind of what some artists feature Broda Shaggi to do for them. He did it all alone! Fire! Falz is a lover boy, and the heights he will go to show that love, includes going highlife, even though he’s a hardcore rapper. Tell me something that’s more romantic on the planet!
