If Sunday go good, na from Friday we go see am. It may still be February, okay, it’s March. So this year is far spent, already. Even though all the artists don’t want to drop singles, there are still a lot of activities going on in the mainstream. And that means, new music, every now and then.
What songs snatched the Mp3bullet Monthly Majority Choice? We’ll find out.
Burna Boy – Dangote
“Dangote, Dangote, Dangote still dey find money oh, I no dey sleep on the money,” Burna sure does know what to drop and when to. Just the other day, I saw the news that Dangote is now 64th Richest in the world, I felt something like cold water go down my spine. But, I digress.
Burna Boy stole the shine in 2018, with his studio album and multiple hit singles, “Ye,” “Gonna,” “On The Low” and “Killin Dem.” He even got the Artist Of The Year, at the SoundCity MVP Awards. He deserved it.
And, then, the last day of February, he showed up with another banger. With “Dangote,” Burna Boy shows he’s even more prepared to take this year away from us. You know, that’s how he does it!
Kizz Daniel – Madu
Not every track from his last studio album, No Bad Songs, are earworms. But, “Madu” stuck, surprisingly. So, when he unleashed the video, weeks ago, it shot up. It became an instant hit.
How can you imagine February 2019 without “Madu”?
Zlatan & Burna Boy – Killin Dem
In 2018, the two breakouts were Zlatan Ibile and Burna Boy. Zlatan brought in the new rave, Zanku and changed the game. Burna, too, went up the ranks, and became the biggest thing in Nigeria, with the likes of Wizkid and Davido, ‘resting’.
So, it’s a no-brainer that when the two of them come together, it’s a hit. “Killin Dem” further pushed the Zanku thing, and also raised Burna’s credibility.
2Baba – Oyi
Is 2Baba back to music? Well, you’ll have to answer that yourself, this time. Even though, it’s almost a year ago, we’re still yet to get over the smash hit, “Amaka” with Peruzzi.
Then, for the new year, Legendary 2Baba thought he should give us something. “So, make what ever do the thing jeje, make we do the live show.”
Falz – Talk
The elections were fast approaching when Falz decided to do “Talk” and address some pressing political, social and moral issues. As he’s always done, in the past.
So, he dropped “Talk,” and sparked a trend on Social Media. Again, as he’s always done in the past. It’s not every day you get a song with a message that you can put on repeat.
“Talk” was released as the main single from his album, “Moral Instruction.”
Davido – Bum Bum ft Zlatan
It’s not only Burna that Zlatan moved close to, yeah, Davido also told him to come closer. And, they did a hit. “Bum Bum” which has quite a lower tempo than the regular Zanku stuff, shows a transition from street Zanku to Afro-Zanku.
The “Bum Bum Challenge” on Instagram, also made the track trend. You can’t take it away from the memories of 2019!
Timaya – Balance
Timaya is a ‘legend’ in his own right too. And he’s been consistently dishing out dope stuffs, over the years. It’s not strange to have him just drop a banger at a time we’re not expecting. Yeah, it’s kinda like an irony.
“Balance” is a fun song, and again he talks about how he has money in his pocket, and how he’ll call all his guys and do anyway. Who doesn’t want to do that?
Victor AD – Tire You ft Davido
Victor AD, came into the scene with “Wetin You Gain,” and since then has been the favourite boy of everybody. Then he started teasing a Davido collabo, just when we thought he couldn’t be cooler.
Since he’s dropped the track, there’s been some positive reviews. Meanwhile, how can you ever down rate a Davido song?
Davido – Fall Remix ft Busta Rhymes & Prayah
After “Fall” has gone platinum in many countries, and after its got over 100 million streams, from all over the world, a remix version was released.
Well, it’s not our fault that Legendary (there are too many Legends) Brooklyn rapper, Trevor Smith, known as Busta Rhymes, likes the jam. They bring it back with the spicy remix, which also features Prayah.
It’s hip-hop meets Afrobeat!
Olamide – Woske
You could dance Zanku, you could dance shaku shaku, you could start another dance, if you like. But you can’t help but dance when you hear “Woske.”
The groove Killertunes played on this track is so heavy, only Olamide can carry it. It’s a confirm banger, party starter. It’s Olamide’s first single of 2019, and well, it’s a hit!
Slimcase – Azaman ft 2Baba, Peruzzi, DJ Neptune & Larry Gaaga
Slimcase won’t be leaving any time soon. He’s just too big, now. That’s what he’s telling us on “Azaman.” 2Baba, Peruzzi, DJ Neptune and Gaaga on a track, what do you think they’re looking for there?
“Azaman” is a hit on a whole new level. Nobody was expecting Slimcase to show face at this time, but the guy knows what to do. He did it!
Vector – This Vector Self
Vector ain’t going anywhere, too. He drop this track, and then people started wondering, “is he not the best rapper in this country?” After listening, you’d question your choice of other rappers as the best.
Just having fun, dropping real life bars, he even did proper Advert for his EP? OK, tell me who else does that? And, why the majority won’t choose him!
