Burna Boy becomes a competitor to top Nigerian Artists; Wizkid and Davido.
A few years ago, only two names that were going around town; “Wizkid and Davido”
These two artists became the best of others, that even fans started to make comparisons between both of them. At this time, Burna Boy was not all that recognized.
All of a sudden, we’re in 2019, Boom! Everybody is talking about Burna Boy, Burna Boy wins countless awards Burna Boy goes international, Burna boy king of afrobeat!.
You may be wondering, how did this happen??
Well, all you have to do is sit tight and read on to find out.
Even though Burna boy was has been making waves all those while, he was not as famous as Wizkid and Davido until 2018 when he released his mega album” Outside”
The song “Heaven’s Gate” in which he featured London singer; Lily Allen, became fan favorite but faded away too soon. Burna boy, however, skyrocketed himself all over Nigeria, With his smash hit; “Ye”
“Ye” is an unfading melodious tune, that we just can’t have enough of, even in years to come.
Burna Boy, however, gained International recognition like no other artist when he embarked on his “Life on the outside” tour in the US.
Within the blink of an eye, video clips of foreigners alike seriously jamming to his songs began to break the internet.
Burna Boy didn’t relent, as he ended 2018 with other chart-topping hits like; “Gbona” and “On the low”.
Meanwhile, Wizkid and Davdo were still considered the best, as they also had their own hits at that time. Nonetheless, there was something unique about Burna Boy, which was rather irresistible.
2019 is, however, a game-changer as Burna Boy fully took over the music scene this year.
His fourth studio album; “African giant” which he started creating in 2018 consisted of sixteen tracks of which six were ceiling crashing hits!
Further, into the year, Burna Boy continued to win big awards, some of which these two artists were nominated into the category.
Talk about, The Headies 2019, BET awards, AFRIMMA19, MTV EMAs, Soundicty MVP, and many other awards a paragraph cannot emphasize.

All these awards, to one individual, in a single year!. Now let’s count Wizkid’s and Davido’s awards this tear trust me, they are no match no this.
Don’t get me wrong, awards are not and can never be a true test of an artist’s creativity. Still, we can’t deny the fact that Burna boy’s win shows he some of their shine this year.
Although Burna Boy, Wizkid and Davido, are very good friends and always come out to show love to each other, we just can’t ignore the rather visible competition.
Even though these other two artists are also pioneers of afro beats, Burna boy is the most recognized.in terms of awards.
We can all recall that he had a soldout concert at SSE Wembley Arena London and was declared “graceful king of Afrobeats” by The Guardian newspaper, UK.
King of Afrobeats! that’s really huge! However, neither of Wizkid and Davido has received such honourary recognition, Hmm, I guess you’re starting to get my point.
2019 is however fast coming to an end, and we have tons of awards to look out for, especially the MOBO awards which last took place in 2017. Wizkid won “Artist of the year ” in the last edition. Will he still sit on the throne next year? or will king Burna takeover?
Other awards alike, Will Burna Boy still set the pace? Will Wizkid or Davido take over? or will any other new act steal the crown?
Unfortunately, all these questions can’t be answered, all we can do is wait and see how things unfold.
