After winning the 2022 Ballon d’Or, the Real Madrid captain, Karim Benzema, has revealed the decision he made after Cristiano Ronaldo departed from the club.
He has revealed that “the ambition to be more entered my head” after Cristiano Ronaldo left the club.
In 2009, Ronaldo moved from Manchester United to Real Madrid for a then-record £80 million transfer fee. But in 2018, the 37-year-old moved on to Juventus.

Since then, Benzema has become known as Madrid’s patron saint.
The 34-year-old was announced as the Ballon d’Or winner for 2022 on Monday 17th of October.
It came after a campaign where Benzema scored 44 goals for the champions of LaLiga and Champions League.
Benzema, speaking about Ronaldo, told Onda Cero: “It was an honour to play with him, he’s a beast. The day he left, the ambition to be more entered my head.”
