Arsenal have moved a step closer to parting ways with Leandro Trossard after reaching an agreement with Turkish side Besiktas for the Belgian forward’s permanent transfer.

The 31-year-old has been permitted to travel to Istanbul, where he is expected to complete a medical and finalise personal terms before sealing a switch to the Turkish Super Lig.
Reports indicate the transfer is worth around €20 million (£17 million), with Trossard set to sign a three-year contract that includes an option for an additional season.
Confirming the development, Arsenal released an official statement outlining the next stage of the transfer process.
The club stated:
“We can confirm that we have reached an agreement with Besiktas for the permanent transfer of Leandro Trossard. With a transfer fee agreed, Leo, 31, has been granted permission to travel to Istanbul to undergo a medical and complete the formalities of his move to the Turkish Super Lig club. We will provide a further update once the transfer has been completed.”
While the two clubs have finalised the transfer fee, discussions over the player’s personal terms are nearing completion. Trossard is reportedly in line to earn up to €9 million per season once the agreement is signed.
The Belgian leaves North London after three and a half successful years at the Emirates Stadium. Despite agreeing to improved financial terms with Arsenal in August 2025, the revised deal did not extend his contract, making a transfer this summer a realistic outcome.
Trossard played an important role during the 2025/26 campaign, featuring in 50 matches across all competitions. He contributed eight goals and 11 assists as Arsenal captured their first English league title since 2004 and reached the UEFA Champions League final.
Since arriving from Brighton in January 2023 in a deal worth £27 million, the versatile attacker established himself as a reliable option in Mikel Arteta’s squad with his creativity, work rate and eye for goal.
On the international stage, Trossard also enjoyed a productive FIFA World Cup with Belgium, starting every match on their run to the quarter-finals while contributing goals and assists throughout the tournament.
The transfer is expected to be completed once the remaining paperwork and medical examinations are concluded. Trossard will then join his new teammates in Istanbul ahead of the new Turkish Super Lig season, while Arsenal are expected to use the transfer proceeds as they continue strengthening their squad for the defence of their Premier League crown.
