Ancelotti explains why Real Madrid did absolutely nothing in the January transfer window.
Despite being hit with a long list of injuries, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has provided an explanation for the club’s lack of transfer activity in January.
Real Madrid has recently been plagued by an injury crisis, losing some key players to severe bruises and muscle fatigue. The team remained quiet in the winter transfer market and wasn’t really associated with any big names, despite calls from fans for reinforcements.
The club suffers from the restriction of budgets at an unfortunate time. They only have one senior right-back who is healthy, and their centre midfield lacks depth as well.
Los Blancos also face a five-point deficit in the Liga title race and have a tricky Champions League round of 16 ties with Liverpool coming next month.

Despite the quiet window, Ancelotti emphasized his faith in his squad, telling reporters: “We didn’t dip into the winter market because we didn’t need to. If you plan your squad well in summer then you don’t need to use the winter market. When you sign in January it means something has happened, which could be an injury, but we’re fine.”
Borussia Dortmund and England midfielder Jude Bellingham appear to be Real Madrid’s top transfer targets over the next six months.
The 19-year-old is the most well-known player available this year, and several European clubs are expected to compete for his services. Bellingham will cost Dortmund well over €100 million (£88 million or $ 109 million), with Real believed to be the front-runner in the battle to sign him.
Over the following months, Ancelotti’s team will compete in La Liga and the Champions League. At the end of the season, Bellingham will be the focus of their transfer ambitions, with Dortmund allegedly content to lose their greatest asset.
