Carlo Ancelotti confirms Vinicius Junior’s injury return date ahead of Champions League clash
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Vinícius Júnior will be back in the squad for the Champions League match against Atalanta next week.
The Brazilian forward has been recovering from a thigh injury sustained late last month, initially projected to sideline him for around three weeks. However, his rehabilitation has progressed ahead of schedule.
Ancelotti shared the update during a press conference: “Seeing Vinícius is good news, he has recovered very well. He won’t be ready for tomorrow [against Girona], but he will be ready for the Champions League.”
Meanwhile, David Alaba has returned to training after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
However, Ancelotti clarified that Alaba is not yet match-fit and is expected to rejoin competitive action in January. “Alaba has helped us a lot in training, but he needs another month. The deadline for him is next year.”
Real Madrid’s form has been inconsistent in Vinícius’ absence. After a 2-0 loss to Liverpool, they secured a 2-0 victory over Getafe but then suffered a 2-1 defeat to Athletic Club, highlighting the significance of Vinícius’ imminent return.
