Afrobeats heavyweight Wizkid is set to make a major return to Lagos this December after being announced as the first headliner for the 2026 edition of Detty December Fest.

The Grammy-winning star will take centre stage on December 18, leading the opening night of the two-week entertainment festival. The event is scheduled to run until December 30, bringing together music, culture, fashion, food and other forms of entertainment for what promises to be another major December attraction in Lagos.
The festival is once again being organised by Livespot360, the entertainment company known for staging some of Nigeria’s biggest international music events. Tickets for the 2026 edition are already on sale, while additional performers are expected to be unveiled ahead of the festival.
Wizkid’s appearance marks one of his major homecoming performances following a relatively quiet period in 2026. Earlier in the year, he joined forces with Asake for a collaborative EP before exploring more cross-genre collaborations with other artists.

His recent run follows an extensive 2025 touring schedule in support of his 2024 album Morayo, which reached No. 4 on Billboard’s World Albums chart. Since then, the singer has continued to expand his catalogue through collaborations, including tracks with Tyla and Ayra Starr.
The festival is also set for a notable transformation this year with the introduction of a second performance platform. While Wizkid will lead the main festival stage on opening night, the newly introduced Pulse Stage will focus on emerging acts and some of the fresh voices driving Africa’s evolving music scene.
The addition is expected to give younger performers a larger platform alongside some of the continent’s biggest stars, further strengthening the festival’s role in showcasing African talent to a global audience.
With more artists and headliners still expected to be announced, anticipation is already building around Detty December Fest 2026 and Wizkid’s return to the Lagos stage.
