Davido’s Father Breaks Silence on Anu Adeleke Saga, Insists DNA Results Are Final

Billionaire businessman Dr Adedeji Adeleke, father of Nigerian music star Davido, has finally spoken publicly on the long-running paternity controversy involving a young girl, Anu Adeleke, following renewed calls for a fresh DNA test.
The issue resurfaced after a woman based in Ibadan, Ayo Labinjo, reiterated claims that she had an intimate relationship with Davido during one of his visits to the city several years ago, which allegedly resulted in the birth of a baby girl. She has consistently maintained that the singer abandoned responsibility for the child.
The controversy gained fresh momentum recently after Anu, via her Instagram page, appealed directly to Davido to conduct another DNA test, saying she only wanted clarity about her paternity. In response, the singer stated that five DNA tests had already been conducted, all of which reportedly showed he is not the child’s father.
On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, the matter took a new turn when Dr. Adeleke addressed journalists at a press conference, firmly backing his son and dismissing the renewed allegations.
According to him, the claims circulating online are false and misleading, alleging that they are being fuelled by investigative journalist Kemi Olunloyo, whom he accused of driving the narrative on social media. Dr Adeleke claimed Olunloyo had alleged she was a close friend of his late wife, Veronica Adeleke, Davido’s mother, but insisted he had never met her.
He stressed that the matter had already been resolved through scientific means, adding that the DNA results conclusively showed that Anu is not his grandchild. Dr. Adeleke, who disclosed that he currently has 14 grandchildren, said he would gladly accept another if science proved otherwise, but maintained that the test results are clear. He also explained that the family would not release the DNA reports publicly due to security concerns.
Despite the renewed online debate, the Adeleke family maintains that due process was followed and has called on the public to allow the matter rest.
Dr Adeleke said, ‘Anu’s aunt reached out to me and revealed that Kemi Olunloyo is the one running Anu’s account on Instagram. I have always told David to ignore Kemi because her own biological son has publicly disowned her. If science had revealed that the little girl was my granddaughter, I would gladly accept her.
‘When we got to the hospital where The DNA was to be done, and David saw the baby’s mum, David said ‘daddy I have never seen this girl before’ but I insisted that The DNA must be done. Davido and Anu’s saliva were taken for The DNA test. We were told the specimen would be sent to South Africa for analysis.
Myself and the grandmother of the baby signed that both of us would receive the result. The result came and the probability of paternity was 0%. Anu’s mum started crying. I suggested that they should stay in Lagos and pick where we can do two more tests…’
The Adeleke family has reiterated that science has already settled the issue and urged those involved to move on, insisting that the claims continue to cause unnecessary distress despite multiple negative DNA results.
